The Locked Door with No Key: Why Ohio’s SB 153 Threatens Our Voting Rights Imagine being told you must enter a building to access your rights—to speak, to be counted, to shape the laws that govern your life. The door is locked, and you're told you need a key. But no one will tell you what kind of key you need. Some folks bring house keys.  Tribal Quotes 19: Being Black, Boldly Brilliant and Beautiful On this show Brother Kwame is interviews his niece Alexia Smith and I want to share some of the take aways from the interview that I picked up. In his usual fashion "The Black Yoda" connects this interview with one of the proverbs left to us by our Ancestors. The key lesson that I got was the idea about sacrifice in the pursuit of a goal. Our Ancestors state those who are not willing to sacrifice will not be fulfilled, and this young lady has demonstrated the willings to sacrifice. This can be seen in her pursuit of excellencce in the classroom, on the basketball court, and more importantly life. The interview with Alexia Smith was inspiring and eye-opening. It is clear that she has a strong work ethic and determination to succeed. She is a great role model for young people, especially Black girls who may feel like they are not good enough or that they have to sacrifice their dreams in order to achieve success. Li...

I've been seeing a lot of this lately. The masculine spirit has been acting out in some very unhealthy ways. And it's understandable. Our society is currently undergoing a paradigm shift. We're changing the way we do things and the way we think about things, and that can be scary for a lot of people who have been taught to operate by a certain set of rules for their entire lives--especially those who are used to being in charge. The way I see it, the only solution is for us all to take a moment to check in with our masculine energy, and ask ourselves where it's coming from, and why it needs to be expressed in any particular situation. This is imperative, especially if it is not being expressed in a positive and productive manner. I would often suggest to look at the facts, don't speculate or make assumptions--that's how we get into trouble with this kind of thing.
