To serve- Ha2tim

Image
The essence of Love/ Is to serve and sacrifice/ Are you capable/ I ran across this definition and it blew me away. You love what you serve. This is interesting because when I look at my personal life this definition challenges me to re-evaluate my service. When I look at the things that consume my time in this life, am I dedicating my time to the things that I claim that I truly love, or am I focusing my life on things that I feel I need to do to survive (let me rephrase that statement the things I think I need to survive)? Our love can be seen also by what we sacrifice for. When we give up our time (which is the most valuable resource) we show our love for a thing or person. This brings the question that I have for my readers today. Like myself this way of looking at love may be challenging. because we seem to live in a world where our love is hijacked, by the need to survive. Each day we have to give away time, and resources to others and projects that we may like, but don

Living Document

Image
Image by Getty Images via @daylife Constitution is/ A living document we/ Provide the heartbeat/ The people in America are the living breathing power of the Constitution. The only way this country can go astray is if the We the People allow it. More importantly we have to realize that this is a living document which means it evolves with the time. If we allow ourselves to be stagnate and stuck we not only kill ourselves we also kill the idea of this country. Let's keep it real there is no way that a group of males sitting in a room almost 300 years ago could have foreseen everything that would confront this country. Hell most of us can't plan a budget for a year without a surprise popping up. For us to believe that the founders of this country and framers of the constitution were all wise is a mistake. We simply have to find ways as a country to move forward respecting our past, and being critical and honest with ourselves, but being bold enough to blaze a new trail. The

Placebo effect- Ha2ku

Image
Image via Wikipedia Placebo can heal/ Power comes from the symbol/ Now science proves it/ Ha2ku by ha2tim Link: http://articles.latimes.com/2010/dec/22/health/la-he-placebo-effect-20101223 Check out this article that discusses a study that shows that a placebo works even if the patient knows that he is being given a placebo. This speaks volumes about the power of relationship as well as the power of ritual and symbols. I know they dont mention ritual or symbol in the article, but lets take a closer look. Going to a doctor can be considered a ritual. Although modern practice sterilizes the process the true essence of a visit to the doctor is equivalent to an ancient ancestor visiting the village shaman. We have supposedly cleaned up but in essence it is the same. Now the intersting thing mentioned is that the doctor developes a relationship with the patient based on truth. The doctor is honest with the patient about what is going on. The doctor informs the patient that they are

Sinking feeling

Image
Image by OneEighteen via Flickr As your boat of life/ Hits rough water hold on tight/ And enjoy the ride/ This Ha2ku hit me as I  was dealing with a personal life issue. I cant help but to wonder when will I make it through this storm, but then I remembered that the storms may never stop, but that is OK, because with each passing storm I get stronger and better able to handle my Ship (life). I just remember who I am my purpose and realize it is not supposed to be easy. So I just look in my mirror and remind myself of these things, and work my ship until I make it to calmer seas knowing that someday another storm will come and because of this storm I'm in right now I am prepared. So if you are struggling in a storm of your own. Batten down the hatches and sail your boat through; do your "mirror exercise" (check blog about it any question hit me up) and remind yourself of why you are here and where you are going and most importantly how much you love yourself and you

Mirror exercise

Image
Image by Xavier Fargas via Flickr Mirror, that I see/ Help me become the person/ I was born to be/ We begin this year with an exercise for those that are seriously looking for a change in the coming year. We often look past the very power that we have resting in us.  To be able to manifest our greatness we have to develop and walk ourselves through a process. On this Gye-Nyame Journey we will begin using the "Player's Pyramid" (book will be available later this year. I will be giving out samples of it soon to get feed back). The first step of the pyramid is Imani. So we need to develop faith in ourselves first and foremost. My suggestion is that each morning for at least the next 30 days that we use our morning habits to help build up the power of Imani in ourselves. You can cut and paste the affirmation that I will share and print it out. I suggest that we hang it on the bathroom mirror and recite it as we brush our teeth. You can develop your own, I am just produ
