Malcom X - A Life of Reinvention

I'm listening to Malcolm X: A Life of Reinvention (Unabridged) Part 2 on #Audible for #Android. Get the app free: http://audible.com/wireless @audible_com This is one of the most extensive commentaries on the life of Malcolm X. It takes a deep look at one of America's greatest men. It brings up points that may upset you, but it is worth a read or listen. Within his writing the author reveals some unknown facts and goes beyond Malcolm X's autobiography. It also paints a picture of some of the possible internal struggles (personal conflicts) that anyone that is involved in struggle may go through. Check it out, the audio is over 22 hours so I can only imagine how long the book is. Nuff Said Peace and 1hunidyears

The Power of your Family Pyrmid

Image
During a recent class I had the pleasure of giving, I challenged the participants to build a "Family Pyramid". A family pyramid is simple a family tree flipped upside down. The idea of this exercise to help the participant to recognize their greatness as well as to help them develop a sense of destiny. Most of the participants completed the assignment. I moved into a discussion about each individual being on earth  for a purpose and the way I used to prove this to them was showing them how many people had to come together in their personal pyramid in order for them to exist. I explained that each individual within their personal pyramid had to come together exactly at the right time in order for them to exist. I further asked them to imagine that everybody within their personal pyramid was brought together by destiny just to produce them. Then I threw out the question "if these people were brought together in the past just so that you can have this moment what are you do

Saw a bird soaring/ Against the force of the wind/ Without stress or strain/ Ha2ku by ha2tim Simple just enjoy life. While watching this bird i was amazed that there was no stress or strain. the Bird just soared through the winds as easily as i had walked out to the park. Even with the wind blowing against him. I can't explain how the bird was doing this, as a matter of fact I dont want to ruin the experience by even trying. I just want to follow it's example and soar through life regardless of which way the wind is blowing. i hope the Ha2ku help you on your Journey. Nuff said Peace and 1hunidyears

Imagination- tool of success o

Image
Imagination is the tool that we use to develop our life or the weapon of our destruction. When we use our imagination to make away, things begin to happen in our life. When we focus our imagination on things, we recieve nothing. We become stuck where we are with visions of possessing the things, but we come up with no means to get it. Focus your imagination on creating the way to wealth rather than focusing on the things of wealth. When we focus on the the things of wealth rather than the means of attaining them we become stuck. We are burning up our axe' (life energy) fantasizing about the rewards of hard work. We have the ability to create within focus our axe' on that and move ourselves along the path we imagined.

The Warrior Spirit

Image
The warrior spirit is important for anyone who wants change their life. A warrior is "one who is experienced or involved with conflict" and anyone that is looking to change is going to experience conflict. The conflicts that will come will start internally and then work themselves out into the world. Conflict is unavoidable when one is seeking any sort of change. Conflict is necessary in our lives because it is only through conflict we grow. Reflect on your own life and look at all the conflicts you had to endure to become who you are today. I humbily suggest that we are a products of conflict, individually and collectively. When we look at the definitiopn of a warrior we can see that it is bigger than a physical war. When we limit the warrior spirit to the battlefeilds of humanity, we limit are ability to tap into the force. We limit our access to the part of ourselves that has helped man/woman evolve beyond our fear, and self imposed  limits. It was the warrior spirit

Being successful on the Journey of life is a habit. This habit of success is built up on practices that are consistent and empowering. The warrior on the Journey needs to develop personal practices that grow into habits that move them toward their goals. By developing these habits they make their movement a fact, habits once they are cued will begin without thought. This frees the mind of the warrior to be able to create more habits that will further free him/her to create more habits so that eventually their life is full of balanced habits that move them toward a successful life and peaceful Journey. For those that are new to the Journey and may not know too much about the Gye-Nyame system let me explain what a warrior is. When we look at the definition of warrior we find that it simple means: “One who is experienced or involved in conflict” Looking at this definition we find that a warrior is not limited to only a battle field, swords, spears, bows and arrows, and guns. Habits II

Image
I had the pleasure of reading or should I say listen to some powerful books, and because of the content I was forced to retrace my step in my library. These books (Power of Habits by Charles Duhigg, The Happiness Advantage by Shawn Achor, Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell) all spoke about building habits of success and in some of my memories and notes I noticed the word habit kept appearing, but I never gave it the true focus that it needed. Habits build the template of our lives, guide our decisions, and more importantly our actions. Habits have been the topic of discussion in almost every book that I have read, but this obvious fact has escaped me. Here are some quotes about habits from some of the people that I have ran across in my readings: “Your beliefs become your thoughts,  Your thoughts become your words,  Your words become your actions,  Your actions become your habits,  Your habits become your values,  Your values become your destiny.”  ―  Mahatma Gandhi “The chains of

Cultural Legacy

Image
I was given a challenge, and I accepted. I have to develop a character building curriculum for a school and implement it throughout the year. This means that I had to do some research to add to what I already have in my head. I was fortunate enough to run into a book that I had been told to read before, but I let it pass. The title of the book is "Outliers" by Malcom Gladwell. Excellent book, and I also had the fortune of running into a app called Audible.com that allowed me to listen to the book on the move and make notes. I would suggest this app for all those on the Journey. Enough of my commercial and to the meat of this blog today. After listening to the book and Malcolm Gladwell stressing the importance of "Cultural Legacy" in the development of people, the question of what is my cultural legacy? Many may not think this is an important question, but after listening to "outliers" I have to strongly disagree. In the book the author was able to

Simba 2012

Image
Time moves so quick it seems that it was just time for me to leave for Simba, and now it is over. This was a stellar year for the Columbus Chapter (Gye-Nyame Tribe). We had an opportunity to expose 21 young men to a camp that transforms lives, and that is exactly what happened. Simba is unlike any other program/camp that I have ever been apart of, the focus is providing young men with a safe place to transform and see the possibilities of greatness that lie in their soul. While the camp focuses on the young people it remains a transformational experience for everyone involved, from the kitchen staff to the people that care for the camp. The power of Simba pulls people together and forces them to look inward, release pain, and begin to grow. This year was full of spontanaity and emergence. To write about this things is one thing but to watch in action is another. This year due to my age and length of time in Simba I was able to sit back and watch the power of the Nation blossom. If yo

The Blessing In Being Stuck

Image
In each of our lives we reach a point where it feels as if we are stuck, and no matter what we do we cant seem to move forward. It is at these times we may need to slow down, and even stop struggling. I have found that the more we struggle at these times the worse we get entangled in life's net. Just stop and take some time to rest and to gain some perspective. At these times the universe may be trying to talk with us but because we are so busy trying to stay moving we cant hear. We have been taught that it is our duty to keep moving and never stop. If you are sick so what "get up and go to work" because we believe that our job needs us or that we will be fired. If you are stuck on a project keeping beating yourself over the head until a new idea comes forth. We have heard the stories of those who have pushed through major obstacles and now the world sing their praise, and we may want to be just like them. Because many of us feel that success is purely connected to
