And another thing….Let's just say for shits and giggles that the latest victim of the police murder gang was not following orders. He did not comply with the orders from law enforcement (which he did) and was not cooperating. So fucking what!! We are human. We are Americans whether they like it or not. We have the same rights as the rest of the country. One does NOT deserve a death sentence for not complying. If you are being questioned, detained or even arrested by police officers then you have a right to know why. You have a right to ask why you are being detained. If there is no legal reason you also have the right to leave. If you are not breaking the law what makes people think that we are just supposed to quietly lie down and die? Why aren’t we allowed to ask questions, to retain our rights as Americans and as human beings? So a cop can just walk up with guns drawn and demand that I relinquish my freedom because it's Tuesday and he is having a bad day? Why were they

… This has really been a trying week. I am tired so damn tired of reading or hearing the same story over and over. First somebody's child. Someone's baby, now someone's brother/father/son.  It's insanity. No let's call it what it is this is war! Only there is only one side allowed to participate. We are simply cannon fodder. So let me get this straight now in addition to driving while black, playing music while black, shopping while black, children playing while black, selling cigarettes while black we are also no longer allowed to exist while black. Car trouble just got a man killed. Why? Because he looked black or as the animal that shot him stated he looked like one scary dude. Right. Black like I said. Who do we think is coming to save us? Who can we call when we are under attack from those whose job it is to uphold the law? To protect us! We pay them with our tax dollars Oh Jesus? Hold up let me text him right quick. …. NO. That’s not the answer this time.

Lesson In Nation Building While Waiting For Death

I am sitting with my father, as he waits to make his transition. Watching him struggle, was tough, but watching him  & trying to keep my little girls busy was impossible. My daughters did not understand about what was going on nor did they care. They Just wanted to get to the playground in the back of the village. At first I just thought the term village was put in the name just to add a little extra to the name, but after walking my girls down to the playground I discovered the name village perfectly describes what is going on here. I never noticed as I drove past this place on College, but this is extensive campus. I knew about the Jewish Community Center (JCC), but I never put it together until today. If you look at this whole block you first have the JCC that is focused on the youth, complete with a gym, swimming pool, Playground, splash park and a smaller playground for tiny tots. I also noticed that there was a baseball diamond back there as well. Next door you have the Wex

This fable is an important one that we need to really look in depth at. This fable brings up the idea at least for me of who to trust, slick talkers, and the subtle differences between people. Many of us have been confronted by at least one of these issues in our lifetime, and if not, you soon will. Aesop had a way of putting stories together that was simple but gave a profound lesson to those willing to read and learn. Lesson 1: Who to trust - how many times have each of us been faced with a crisis of trust. Who can and who should I trust is , I believe a common struggle. Learning to tell who is trustworthy is one of the most important skills that we will ever be faced with. Slick Talkers-  Beware the the silk tongued devils, they have a way of weaving webs of deception that can send you down the road of destruction. Subtle Differences-  Be aware of those small differences that separate you from others. Differences that we may ignore can cause us many issues, some of which may

Coming Soon- Live discussion about "The African Openings To The Tree Of Life"

All good things must come to an end, but the end can also be a new beginning. That is what it looks like for Gye-Nyame Journey's show Tribal Quotes. We started the show and with over 90 episodes we have looked at some universal wisdom that has helped everyone that has tuned. The wisdom will stay universal, but we will be specifically looking into the wisdom of Africa. We will be pulling verses from one of my favorite books, "The African Opening To The Tree Of Life". This book alone is a life changing tour de force, but having a discussion about the book as we move through each of the proverbs will definitely change those that take the time to tune in once a week. The Show will still be called Tribal Quotes  (to catch the podcast), but to catch it live still come to gyenyamejourney.com . The show will still air Wednesdays at 9pm est, and finally the call in number will still be 614-556-4535. Just

Richard Nixon's 'War on Drugs' was government-sanctioned terror on Black people - Indianapolis Recorder Newspaper: Home

Image
My elders told me this in the early 90's. It has become a fact because one of the parties involved spoke up, but the evidence has always been there. Now the issue that bothers me is that America treats Black folks as if we have had every chance to make a better life for ourselves. The War On Drugs (WOD) started in 1970, taking up from  where Jim Crow left off, which had took up from where slavery left off. The fact is that Black Folks have been under attack since we have set foot on this land. Many of the complaints that I hear coming from the other members of the U.S., and even from other Black folks seems to leave these factors out when we they diagnose our ailments. The fact is that we have been used and left behind in the world wide race. We may need to now step back and look at some new ways to win, because trying to catch up in the traditional fashion is not going to work. Those that know me you best believe that Mr. Richard (tha dick) nixon is going to get the siren of f

Where Is Your Seriousness

Image
"No one will or should take your stuff more serious than you!" This idea is one of the Gye-Nyame Journey's keys to success. When we "hone in"on our purpose we develop a seriousness that becomes contagious. Everyone around us catches the seriousness in which we carry our ideas, projects, property, goals, and etc.. Either they joins us in that view or disappear from our lives. Many of us are not willing to get serious enough to chase the fake people out of our lives. This is why many people remain stuck where they are. Fake people weigh you down and prevent you from climbing to the top. In fact they help you come up with excuses that you use to justify why you are stuck, and also gives you permission not to be "so uptight". You begin to believe that you can make it to the top without being serious. You learn to be cool, and in fact nothing seems to get you excited, you lack a sense of urgency. Your serious demeanor has been replaced with a cool exterior,
