Parasites & Your Health Peace: Forgive the boring article but once I started doing research on parasites it blew my mind. So get some information that I hope you can use, and be ready because we got more coming this week. Introduction Parasites are everywhere. In fact, there are more parasites in the world than any other kind of organism. They are on all continents, in all oceans. Some parasites are harmless, but many can cause serious harm to humans and animals. Parasitic diseases are widespread. About 70 percent of the world's rural inhabitants live in areas where at least one parasitic disease is common. Malaria kills as many as 2 million people every year. Most parasitic diseases can be prevented with good hygiene and sanitation, but these medical resources are often hard to find in rural areas where infections are most common. Parasites can spread through mosquito bites and contaminated water sources, including drinking water and swimming pools, or by food sources such as

Do You Have Skin In The Game We have entered the week of Kuumba in the fourth cycle of 2022. I hope that you are enjoying the content that I am pulling together for you. I decided that rather than trudge through everyday and create something new, why not take some time and begin to go through some of the old content. Rewatch and listen and see if there is anything that I can pull out, and then begin to write about. This also gives me a chance to enforce upon myself some of the ideas that I have had over the years. If you are getting anything from this please like, share, and spread the word. By the way, make sure that you checkout FreeGNJecourse.com and get on our email list as well. Introduction I’m sure you’ve heard the phrase “you have to put skin in the game”. In order to do anything great in life we need to be willing to risk something and put our hearts on the line. It doesn’t mean that we have to give up everything but it does mean we have to sacrifice what matters less so it

Eat Your Culture

Eat Your Culture Introduction What do you think of when you think of African-American food? Most people would probably answer "soul food," the style of fare served in both the American South and in urban areas across the country. Although popular, this term is considered offensive by many who are more familiar with the history behind it. For example, Dr. Jessica B. Harris refers to "soul food" as "the culinary expression of a people who have lived through times that were less than soulful." That's why we prefer to use the term African-American food, which encompasses all aspects of this cuisine without invoking traditional stereotypes or negative connotations. African-American food has a rich history that's worth exploring, especially since the food of the region is so much healthier than you might imagine. Food is a way to connect with your roots, family and community. It can be a way of understanding the past. It is something that should be celeb

Practice & Play Your Position

Image
Practice & Play Your Position Introduction Leaders, we need to practice and play our position. In 2020, the definition of a “Leader” has changed so much. Everyone seems to call themselves a leader these days. How many times have you heard someone say “I’m not a leader”? Yet somehow people who consider themselves not a leader are leading entire teams! They are managing budgets and have reports on the org chart that report to them! I feel like the term leader needs to be defined again! Leaders don’t sit around and wait for things to happen. Leaders make things happen. You don’t have to do it all. Remember: you don’t have to do it all. You don’t have to be the lead and play every single position on your team. You can play one role in a variety of ways, and that's perfectly fine! Don't worry about what other people are doing, or how they're playing their positions—just focus on the best way for YOU to play YOUR position. You can’t do it all. You can’t do it all. Focus on wh

Wasted Resource

Wasted Resource Introduction The youth of today are dealing with issues that we never dealt with; we are raising a generation of children who are exposed to everything. I say that our community needs to take the leadership role in molding and shaping our youth so they can become productive adults, who understand how to be leaders in their homes, communities, and workplaces. The issue is not “what do they know '' but rather “what do they know how to do” when it comes to being a man or woman. What is “rite of passage” ? Rite of passage is a ritual or ceremony to mark or celebrate the transition from one social state to another. It is commonly associated with such milestones as childbirth, puberty, marriage, and death. In a rite of passage, the initiate goes through an ordeal that challenges them physically and mentally, often involving symbolic death and rebirth into a new life. Examples of this include Christian baptism and confirmation; Jewish bar mitzvah; Confucian jinzi (son-

FairWeather Friends

Image
Fairweather Friends Introduction Some people will only be your friend when you're doing well. They seem to be there whenever things are going well for you, but the moment something goes wrong in your life they disappear like a thief in the night. These type of friends we call fairweather friends, and I am convinced that having them around can lead to more harm than good. I wanted to share with you some telltale signs of a fairweather friend so that you'll know who is really with you! 1. Your Fairweather friends will disappear when you're going through something difficult. Fairweather friends are people who will disappear when you're going through something difficult. They're not assets, they are liabilities. They won't be there for you when life gets tough. They won't hold your hand and cry with you when things get hard—they'll probably run away as fast as they can because they don't want to deal with it or face their own problems by comparison. Fa

Public Enemy #1 Great Kujichagulia during this week of Nia (Purpose): This article was sparked when I was reviewing one of my old videos. During the time I was thinking heavily about the plight of our people, and some of the road blocks that are in the way of us making progress. I remember that in all my time working in the community I have always heard about the plight of the Black man. I have seen millions of dollars in my lifetime, and have been paid thousands of dollars to work with Black Men & Boys. I had to step back and ask myself the question: what about Black women and girls. To my knowledge there has been no major funding or pushes to reach out and save her. Being a Gye-Nyame Man and being taught and teaching others to ask questions, I had to ask this question. I know that this is going to rub many the wrong way but, when my enemy is investing heavily into something I have to look ask why. In our culture women are very important. We can find African societies that are m

Tribal Quotes 19: Being Black, Boldly Brilliant and Beautiful

Tribal Quotes 19: Being Black, Boldly Brilliant and Beautiful On this show Brother Kwame is interviews his niece Alexia Smith and I want to share some of the take aways from the interview that I picked up. In his usual fashion "The Black Yoda" connects this interview with one of the proverbs left to us by our Ancestors. The key lesson that I got was the idea about sacrifice in the pursuit of a goal. Our Ancestors state those who are not willing to sacrifice will not be fulfilled, and this young lady has demonstrated the willings to sacrifice. This can be seen in her pursuit of excellencce in the classroom, on the basketball court, and more importantly life. The interview with Alexia Smith was inspiring and eye-opening. It is clear that she has a strong work ethic and determination to succeed. She is a great role model for young people, especially Black girls who may feel like they are not good enough or that they have to sacrifice their dreams in order to achieve success. Li

If not, I suggest that you give the #NguzoSabaChallenge a try. What's a daily log and how can you start a habit with it? A daily log is a tool that can help you develop and maintain a habit. It's not just about tracking your progress (though it does that), but also about reflecting on your progress. A daily log helps you see how far you've come and allows for celebration of those milestones, which will motivate you to keep going. As you begin tracking your habits, take note of the following: What is the first step in starting this habit? Is there something specific I need to do before or after this? How many times per day am I trying to practice my new habit? Is this too much or too
