The Art of Adaptation: Unveiling the Wisdom of The Bat and The Weasels “It is wise to turn circumstances to good account.” — Aesop In the world of fables, we often find animals acting out the deepest parts of our humanity. These creatures, symbols of instinct and survival, carry lessons older than time itself. The Bat and The Weasels , retold from the mind of Aesop and reimagined through the lens of Gye-Nyame Journey, isn’t just a tale for children—it’s a guide for those grown folks who still seek mastery. When the World Has You Cornered Here’s the setup: A bat falls to the ground and is caught by a weasel. The weasel hates birds. So the bat, slick with the tongue, says, “I’m not a bird—I’m a mouse.” The weasel lets him go. Later, the same bat falls again. This time, a different weasel catches him. But this weasel hates mice. So what does the bat say? “I’m not a mouse—I’m a bird.” And he gets set free again. Now, you could say the bat was being dishonest. But hold on. Let’s go de...

Chapter 5 (cont.)

All my free time is spent studying with my generation (those that came in the same time as I did). We have to be able to answer all the basic questions. They start by asking us about the symbols of the club. From there we have to get into what is a nation, and eventually get to our family line. My family line  was simple. Simba was brought in by Ha2tim who is one of the founders. I am the only person Simba had brought in so far. Other family lines were fifteen people long.
I had been going through the underworld for months and I had not seen Simba. Even when I am on work detail. I was sent a to work at the different establishments that the club owned. Many of these places you would never know the club had anything to do with. The longer I am in the more amazed I am at the depth of the influence of the club in this city. It is amazing what they are doing. The membership is full of people you would never expect from politicians to janitors. We learned that the nation building organization is run by houses. Each house has a specialty. To date there are seven houses. I am being brought into the Gye-Nyame House, the first house established in the club. It was started in 1998 by Ha2tim. Gye-Nyame house focused on training all warriors and nation builders. It also has its hands in real estate, trucking, restaurants, nite clubs, and international trade. It turns out that Simba oversees all of Gye Nyame businesses in the U.S. He also is the Midwest represented on the Council of Wisdom. That is why he is called Baba. He has achieved the rank of Grand Master in the club, and is respected by all. He took the seat and the responsibility of Gye Nyame House when Ha2tim moved to the level of Elder, and moved out of the country to oversee other family interest internationally, Ghana in particular.
The training is very rigorous and Malik does not let up on us at all. Everyday religiously we workout and are drilled on our questions, drills, ceremonies, rituals, and martial arts.
