 Before I get old

I want to be a part of the greatest story ever told,
before dreams deferred for time bought and sold.
I want to see the world and be sure she sees me
before I get old, before I'm too old.
I want to ride a train and use my passport,
then play a tennis match on a grass court.
I want to go to the opera just to fall asleep
and pretend to pay attention as my wife weeps.
I want to capture the sun and drink from a cloud,
stand on the mountain top to shout out loud.
I want to tell the greatest story that I've ever told,
of life lived to the fullest, before I got old.
The journey begins, the adventure is bold,
a life that's worth living to have and to hold.
I'll become the legend, the hero unsung,
 riding off in the sunset,
but right now I'm too young.
