The Locked Door with No Key: Why Ohio’s SB 153 Threatens Our Voting Rights Imagine being told you must enter a building to access your rights—to speak, to be counted, to shape the laws that govern your life. The door is locked, and you're told you need a key. But no one will tell you what kind of key you need. Some folks bring house keys. Others arrive with driver’s licenses, birth certificates, even passports. They jiggle them in the lock—nothing works. They aren’t denied because they’re unqualified. They’re denied because the rules changed without explanation. This is the danger behind Ohio’s Senate Bill 153 (SB 153)—a bill that hasn’t passed yet , but is already knocking on our community’s door. What Is SB 153? SB 153 is a proposed law—not yet passed —currently being considered by Ohio’s state legislature. It would require all voters to prove their citizenship before casting a ballot. That may sound fair on the surface—but the bill doesn’t define what “proof of citizenship” ac...

Lesson In Nation Building While Waiting For Death

I am sitting with my father, as he waits to make his transition. Watching him struggle, was tough, but watching him  & trying to keep my little girls busy was impossible. My daughters did not understand about what was going on nor did they care. They Just wanted to get to the playground in the back of the village. At first I just thought the term village was put in the name just to add a little extra to the name, but after walking my girls down to the playground I discovered the name village perfectly describes what is going on here. I never noticed as I drove past this place on College, but this is extensive campus. I knew about the Jewish Community Center (JCC), but I never put it together until today. If you look at this whole block you first have the JCC that is focused on the youth, complete with a gym, swimming pool, Playground, splash park and a smaller playground for tiny tots. I also noticed that there was a baseball diamond back there as well. Next door you have the Wexner Village that focus on hospice, and rehabilitation. Behind this building there is a high rise apartment complex for the elders (I think). Next door to the village and the high rise is a Synagogue. I must say that I was blessed to see this because I now know that #gyenyamecomplex is definitely possible. The Jewish community made this happen for their people and by taking care of their own they were able to eventually help others. I am focused on doing the same thing the same thing for my people.
Even while I wait for the passing of my father my mind can't help but to find nation building information and confirmation. Synchronicity is definitely at work in my life. Just last evening I did my show "Tribal Quotes" and one of the proverbs stated "sight and creation always interact", Today I was given a sight of what I have been talking about, and as the honorable Marcus Garvey would say "what man has done, man can do". So after I finish with my family duties I will hit my hustle harder than ever. Because our children and our elders need something like this erected for them, and I will play my part in making it happen.
