The Locked Door with No Key: Why Ohio’s SB 153 Threatens Our Voting Rights Imagine being told you must enter a building to access your rights—to speak, to be counted, to shape the laws that govern your life. The door is locked, and you're told you need a key. But no one will tell you what kind of key you need. Some folks bring house keys. Others arrive with driver’s licenses, birth certificates, even passports. They jiggle them in the lock—nothing works. They aren’t denied because they’re unqualified. They’re denied because the rules changed without explanation. This is the danger behind Ohio’s Senate Bill 153 (SB 153)—a bill that hasn’t passed yet , but is already knocking on our community’s door. What Is SB 153? SB 153 is a proposed law—not yet passed —currently being considered by Ohio’s state legislature. It would require all voters to prove their citizenship before casting a ballot. That may sound fair on the surface—but the bill doesn’t define what “proof of citizenship” ac...

Do You Have Skin In The Game

We have entered the week of Kuumba in the fourth cycle of 2022. I hope that you are enjoying the content that I am pulling together for you. I decided that rather than trudge through everyday and create something new, why not take some time and begin to go through some of the old content. Rewatch and listen and see if there is anything that I can pull out, and then begin to write about. This also gives me a chance to enforce upon myself some of the ideas that I have had over the years. If you are getting anything from this please like, share, and spread the word. By the way, make sure that you checkout FreeGNJecourse.com and get on our email list as well.

Introduction

I’m sure you’ve heard the phrase “you have to put skin in the game”. In order to do anything great in life we need to be willing to risk something and put our hearts on the line. It doesn’t mean that we have to give up everything but it does mean we have to sacrifice what matters less so it doesn't stand in the way of what matters most.

What exactly do I mean by having skin in the game? It means you risk something to have something. It also comes down to commitment, focus, and determination. How bad do you want it? Who are you willing to become?

committing your mind, body, spirit and resources to making your dreams come true through consistent action over time. And if that isn't enough—if you still need another reason why having skin in the game is important—consider this: If you don't have skin in the game then who does?

When we have skin in the game we’re willing to sacrifice more. If there is no sacrifice there’s no reward. It comes back to the fact that success is not a spectator sport. We have to jump into the game, give it 100% and get our arms around it.

When we have skin in the game we’re willing to sacrifice more. If there is no sacrifice there’s no reward. It comes back to the fact that success is not a spectator sport. We have to jump into the game, give it 100% and get our arms around it. When you understand this concept you will be able to ask yourself the most important question: What do I want? Once you figure that out then you can start asking yourself what it's going to take for me to get there. If there's no cost associated with something then it doesn't matter. If there is no pain, there is no growth. Growth is a process of breaking down and rebuilding yourself as an individual. You can’t build muscle without tearing it down first. The same thing goes for our self-confidence, confidence comes from being comfortable in your own skin but that doesn't happen overnight and it won't happen unless we expose ourselves to a little bit of discomfort from time to time.

Our lives are built on habits, good or bad ones and these habits shape who we become over time; this is why it's important for us to push ourselves out of our comfort zone every once in a while because if we don't then we will never grow into the person that God has designed us to be! If we want to create real freedom in life and build a tribe then we must sacrifice. We need to take a long hard look at our daily habits and find what time wasters are getting in our way of achieving our goals.

Conclusion

Ultimately, if we want to create real freedom in life and build a tribe then we must sacrifice what matters less so it doesn’t stand in the way of what matters most. We need to take a long hard look at our daily habits and find what time wasters are getting in our way of achieving our goals.
