The Locked Door with No Key: Why Ohio’s SB 153 Threatens Our Voting Rights Imagine being told you must enter a building to access your rights—to speak, to be counted, to shape the laws that govern your life. The door is locked, and you're told you need a key. But no one will tell you what kind of key you need. Some folks bring house keys. Others arrive with driver’s licenses, birth certificates, even passports. They jiggle them in the lock—nothing works. They aren’t denied because they’re unqualified. They’re denied because the rules changed without explanation. This is the danger behind Ohio’s Senate Bill 153 (SB 153)—a bill that hasn’t passed yet , but is already knocking on our community’s door. What Is SB 153? SB 153 is a proposed law—not yet passed —currently being considered by Ohio’s state legislature. It would require all voters to prove their citizenship before casting a ballot. That may sound fair on the surface—but the bill doesn’t define what “proof of citizenship” ac...

From Victory to Momentum: My Next 21-Day Challenge

Image
Peace, Tribe! I just came out of a 21-day fast , and let me tell you—I’m on a high! My mind is clear, my body feels lighter, and my spirit is in alignment. I’m celebrating this victory because it’s a big deal. Discipline is no small feat, and when you walk through the fire and come out stronger, you need to recognize it. But here’s the thing—this high isn’t something I want to come down from. So, I’m stepping right into my next 21-day challenge . Why? Because momentum is a gift, and when the energy is flowing, you don’t stop—you build. This next challenge is about keeping that clarity, pushing myself further, and re-dedicating to the principles that keep me grounded in the Gye-Nyame Journey . This ain’t just about me, though. I’m sharing this because I want you to walk with me. Let’s grow together. Let’s elevate. Let me break it down for you. 21 Days of Re-Commitment These next 21 days are about getting back to the practices that define who we are as a tribe. Gye-Nyame isn’t just somet...

Peace FAM: It is a brew day, and I am far behind. I was supposed to bottle up the ambrosia last night, but I was tired and went to bed. Now I am moving slow, and trying to do the best I kind with this shifting weather. my SCOBYs are holding up but being horribly slowed down by the huge jumps in temperature. I got them bottled up, and know to post up the video and get it to you. I am slowly moving toward the point of making my first shipments outside of Columbus, and I am excited. Today we toasted this marvelous day of Kuumba, and I was able to talk a little bit more about the process of making the kombucha/jun. We also talked about the danger of misdiagnosing our emotional states. When we misdiagnose we get the wrong solution, which means we apply force in the wrong direction. This causes us to fall deeper into the whole of oppression, and moves us into a depressed state. These types of states drain our power, and moves us toward surrendering. It is important that we create sit...
