I have to start this by saluting the men who have blazed a path in my life. I will do this in order and then I will dive in to this tribute. First I have to give shots out to my grandfather Cleven Brown who taught me to care and take care of my family (RIP). Next in line I have to say thank you to the person who this article is about Nommo X. Nommo then introduced me to Dr. Moriba Kelsey the founder of APDS, and the Tawi Village. Through Dr. Kelsey and Nommo I met Dr. Lewis Dodley entrepreneur and the Baba of the Simba Nation. Through Baba Dodley I was introduced to Gaylord Thomas. These men have shaped me through the fire of their love into who I am today. You may never hear about these men but they are in my pantheon of greatness. When I needed fatherly guidance each of these men gave it to me in their own way.Nommo X was a historian, warrior, entrepreneur, and a all around great man. He was a mentor that accepted you where you were and helped moved you to where you needed to be. Although he was a force he never forced me to make a decision, but he gave me the information and encouraged me to come to my own decision. Nommo was one of the kindess men I knew and the whole time I knew him, he always tried to make sure I was alright. Although he often would threaten me (hahahaa) he always did it in love. He use to tell me that he had one good slam left in him and if I got out of hand he would use it on me. Unfortunately I never got to feel the slam, I one time was playing to much and he got hold of me and it felt like my wrist was caught in a vice. I know you may be confused because I said he was kind, but any time he threatened me it was because I was losing focus and messing up. One time while I was suffering from a heart break in college and was considering quiting school and joining the navy, he looked at me very seriously and told me he would snipe me himself before he would let me take my mind and what I knew to the navy. He told me I would get over it, and of course he was right.
Nommo was a lecturer and he use to take me with him sometimes as security when he traveled. Those are some of my foundess memories. Nommo would lecture for hours and I watched each time and it got to a point where I could do his slide presentation because I studied him. He could make the audience gasp, or laugh. Nommo was good at what he did. I remember being so proud that he selected me for the trips he sometime went on.
Nommo will be missed because if there was no Nommo X there would be no ha2tim. So I salute you big bra... I wish you a peaceful journey. See you when the Horn of War (Akoben) is sounded for me.
