Conservatism, Reaction, and the Elder's Responsibility: A Message to My Age Grade

Conservatism, Reaction, and the Elder's Responsibility: A Message to My Age Grade Great Day, Fam. This one right here? It’s not for everyone. If you’re not at or approaching Eldership—defined in our tribe as about 55 years old and up—you might not feel all of this. But if you’re curious, or if you’re one of those younger souls already walking with wisdom, you’re welcome to keep reading. This message is for the Elders. For those of us who should know better. And yes—I’m including myself. Let’s Start With the Mirror I’ve got to confess something. I’ve been guilty. Guilty of being reactionary. Guilty of falling into the trap of conservatism. Guilty of romanticizing the past. Guilty of looking at our young people and calling them “soft”—as if we were born warriors, as if we didn’t have to become who we are through fire, failure, and guidance. Many of us Elders are stuck in a loop. We remember only the highlights of our youth—the toughest times we survived, the boldest moments ...

Mastering Consciousness: Overcoming Unbalanced Passions Welcome to today's discussion. We're diving into question number six in our ongoing series, and since we're on a roll, we might as well tackle question seven too. They fuel chaos and keep us from seeing reality for what it is. Passions should be tools, not masters. When we let them take control, they distort our consciousness and limit our power. The Enemy of Consciousness Why must...

Discouragement

Image
Sometimes I get discouraged... I have heard this over and over again in my studies, and being on this Journey, I have  felt it. This feeling can strike at the strangest time, but I like those before me I need to push on. I am in the beginning stages of writing another book. The Idea came to me complete with a title and the first thing that hit me was the feeling that accompanies discouragement and self doubt. The negative question began to hit me from the inside as well as the outside. The book will be about the Journey to success, although I have dealt with this topic in my other books, this book will deal with it more directly and be more universal in scope. The first negative thought hit me and tormented me for the first day, after I put the title on my thinking board (will speak on the "Thinking Board" in an upcoming blog). The question was what gave me the right to write about success? I was embarrassed by the question and images of other people asking me the same questi...
