If you’re not at or approaching Eldership—defined in our tribe as about 55 years old and up—you might not feel all of this. But if you’re curious, or if you’re one of those younger souls already walking with wisdom, you’re welcome to keep reading. This message is for the Elders. For those of us who should know better. And yes—I’m including myself. Let’s Start With the Mirror I’ve got to confess something. I’ve been guilty. Guilty of being reactionary. Guilty of falling into the trap of conservatism. Guilty of romanticizing the past. Guilty of looking at our young people and calling them “soft”—as if we were born warriors, as if we didn’t have to become who we are through fire, failure, and guidance. Image via Wikipedia Follow the cycles / grow in tune with Universe/ align with power/ A couple of weeks ago I was listening to late night radio and they were conversing about the cycles of America . I was suddenly hit with an idea about charting the cycles of African people in America . This opened up a flood gate of ideas. I will share the beginning of the process and as I get my notes (I gave my notes to somebody at "Poetic Moments" poetry Night)back will put down  more info. I first had to find out how long a generation was. After a little research  I came up with 20 years. From hear I started charting in 20 year cycles the ebb and flow of my people.  The symbol I chose to use was the seasons. I chose the seasons because these are visible cycles of change that everyone can understand and it is simple. We know instinctively that there are certain things that is supposed to be done during certain seasons. For example we know that if I was going to grow some...

I decided to start my Ideas down and maybe get some comments and other thoughts on my work. I plan to post poems, ideas and what ever else i can put down. I want to hopefully build some conversations with new and old comrades that may stumble across my writing. so please journey with me.
