The Cost of the Feast: Why Comfortable Chains Are Still Chains Let’s stop lying to ourselves about modern success. We love to boast about the corner office, the direct deposits, and the luxury perks, but behind closed doors, our spirits are suffocating. We have traded our sovereign genius for corporate scraps, smiling through microaggressions just to secure a seat at a table that was built to exploit us. The ancestors from Malawi cut straight through that compromise: "It is better to eat mushrooms in freedom than to eat meat in slavery." August 21st holds heavy ancestral receipts. On this exact night in 1791, Dutty Boukman and Cécile Fatiman gathered our people in the dark woods of Bois Caïman. They looked at the plantation tables heaped with meat bought with their own degradation and chose the wild mushrooms of war, sparking the Haitian Revolution. Forty years later, on August 21, 1831, Nat Turner rose in Virginia because he refused to let his soul be bought off with crumbs....

My elders told me this in the early 90's. It has become a fact because one of the parties involved spoke up, but the evidence has always been there. Now the issue that bothers me is that America treats Black folks as if we have had every chance to make a better life for ourselves. The War On Drugs (WOD) started in 1970, taking up from  where Jim Crow left off, which had took up from where slavery left off. The fact is that Black Folks have been under attack since we have set foot on this land. Many of the complaints that I hear coming from the other members of the U.S., and even from other Black folks seems to leave these factors out when we they diagnose our ailments. The fact is that we have been used and left behind in the world wide race. We may need to now step back and look at some new ways to win, because trying to catch up in the traditional fashion is not going to work. Black Woman, You Can Never Be As Beautiful As A white woman

I know that some will not even read this post, and I understand. It is hard to be hit by the truth. Some will argue before and may even throw insults, and  I understand that as well. For those that will take the time to read what I am trying to say I thank you in advance. This idea was spawned as I was going threw Aesop fables. Aesop dropped some powerful wisdom for those with "Ears to hear, and eyes to see". Aesop had quite a few fables about animals that had an identity crisis. A powerful example of this is the story entitled "The Raven and the Swan" (check out the story on my YouTube Channel, and push that Subscribe as well). I believe that most people do not know where or when they are. Let me explain, Black Women we are in the heart of a western imperialistic system.
