On this exact night in 1791, Dutty Boukman and Cécile Fatiman gathered our people in the dark woods of Bois Caïman. They looked at the plantation tables heaped with meat bought with their own degradation and chose the wild mushrooms of war, sparking the Haitian Revolution.
