I am a Hip-Hop Philospha

Image
I am  a Hip-Hop Philosopha and Spiritualist this means that I have a unique way of seeing the world, and the way it runs. I have the pleasure of being part of a culture that does not mind borrowing. In Hip-Hop we have always borrowed the best and created something greater. You can see it in the fashion world, in art, dance, and music just to name a few areas of life where this culture as been a big influence. Growing up in this culture and developing the mindstate that goes with it, has opened many doors for me, and has created what you are reading today. In philosophy, and spirituality I have only done what my culture has guided me to do. Just like the DJ who would mix the old with the older and create something new, I did the same. When I developed Gye-Nyame and all of the other organizations before that I was motivated and inspired by the vibe of creating something useful from old ignored elements, and changing the world. Like that DJ I was able to look at the gospel differently

To thine ownself be true- Hip-Hop fable

Image
This story was inspired by a tale by Aesop called the "astronomer". Once their was a young MC, who had won many battles in his city. This MC was able to copy and style and master it. He constantly listened to the music of his favorite rhymers and could out flow them on their tracks. One day this young MC was invited to a studio of a top producer to demonstrate his skills on the mic. This was the day that this young MC had been waiting for. He listened to his favorite artist all night preparing his rhymes for his session. When the artist entered the studio, he was immediately walked to the booth by this legendary producer. The beat was dropped and the MC was challenged to drop some rhymes freestyle. The Mc felt like he was up for the challenge. The beat dropped and the MC cut into like fire and his flow seemed to him to be perfect, but the producer stopped him and said the lyrics was hot but it sounded a lot like "Lil Sam" which just happen to be one this young

Golden MC- Hip-Hop fable

Image
Any similarities to any real life situations is purely a coincidence. This tale is simply an adaption of "the goose who laid the golden eggs." Once upon a time when the Game was pure and the Love for the art and culture was still alive, there was an rapper who was called the "Golden MC", because all his ryhmes seemed to turn to gold. His fans flocked to stores to buy everything he put out, and his shows would always sell out. When he wrote a song it seemed to touch his listeners hearts, sparked their imaginations and excited thier passions. When he put out an album it seemed that he shaped reality. He developed a cult like following to the point that everything he touched and wore people seemed to flock to copy which meant that he not only sold records, but he was able to sell clothes, glasses, alcohol, and etc.. This golden MC belonged to a crew of friends that was led by a power hungry individual, and he wanted all the money he could get now. He didn'

Friday night Tribal Talk  (Hookah, tea, coffe, and good conversation) Why do we believe/ That people have to be on/ The same page as us/ Why do some people believe that in order for us to work together we have to be on the same page. why is this necessary? I have found that when people stress that we must be on the same page to work or even conversate what they are really telling me is that i have to think like them. This is a very limited way to see the Universe. Actually what you are dealing is in the uverse, and have cut everyone else off because you are stuck on your page. Why do we have to be on the same page? Can't we be reading the same book (speaking of books dont forget to support the Journey by purchasing some books...hahahahaa), or even be reading the in the same subject. Lets open up our dialogs so that we can allow growth. Stop trying to change others, and work on your growth. Different perspectives are good, new ideas are good, and can promote your and others grow

What if- Preston J. Harrison

Image via Wikipedia                                         What if What if God was a pit bull and the devil was a pie? What if Heaven was a house where the backyard was the sky? What if a telescope and microscope viewpoint was just the same? What if goodness or evil were just somebody's last name? If life is but a dream then what happens while we sleep? In the event of insomnia, who represents the counted sheep? What if fear was a landlord, would my faith pay him the rent? If money is power truly, how much of it have I spent? Why does Love seem to take the bus, while Hate owns a plane? What if the sun is just plugged in and the ocean has a drain? What if tomorrow becomes yesterday, would we all be lost in time? What if silence became noise and we were all to learn to mime? What if God tripped on a cricket and then He somehow fell, to split Himself in two dimensions, one Heaven, the other Hell ? What if Jesus was an alien and a poet wrote the bible? What if

New Age guerilla tribute to Jimon Jones Part I

Image
Image via Wikipedia Guerrilla in midst/ Using Hip-Hop as weapon/ Waking consciousness/ I woke up today with several things on my mind but one of my ancestors was calling out to me. I have for years been involved in my community as a NationBuilder, and one of the task that I took upon myself was raising boys into men. For years my house was full of young men and their friends. This brought me great joy and great pain. I have lost count of how many young warriors have passed through my house (known by many as the Gye- Nyame house). I have been blessed with the fact that many of these young people developed a love for me and affectionately called me dad or big bra. Back to the reason I'm writing this piece I woke up with one of the Young men who was in the Gye-Nyame house on my mind heavy. His name was Jimon Jones. He lived next door from me and eventually ended up staying at Gye-Nyame house. Unfortunately he was murdered in the short north. When he died I wrote an article abo

shouts out to the Midwest Spider

power is making/ your dreams breath and walk for real/ through life obstacles/ This a new part of the Journey I will begin sending shouts out to local artist, and entrepreneurs that are on the Journey. It is important that we support these folks, because they are out there grinding trying to get there name out there. So feel free to hit me up with suggestions for yourself as well of friends that out there "doin it". You have to have respect for those people that are out there making their dreams real. whether they are grinding out of their trunk, or selling their products at beauty salons or barber shops. When we support them we are really supporting ourselves. Each time we purchase a book, cd, ticket, or piece of heart we promote the culture of entrepreneurship. We keep the flame burning in them as well as ourselves.  although i hve put some artist on the Journey i have never really introduced them to you so I have one of my favorite Hip-Hop artist send me his Bio and a
