Before you read please check out the video so that you will not get lost, some of my readers are to young to remember the show Kung Fu, and will not understand my references.  What I loved about Kung fu was that it introduced me to different way of thinking. The scene that I am discussing today is the test that was set up in this fictional shaolin temple that determined when it was time for a student to leave. The test was basically the head monk (Master Khan) standing before the student every so often, and challenging the student to snatch the pebble from his hand. When the student missed he went back to his daily practice in the temple as a student. When he was finally able to snatch the pebble he and the master knew that it was time for him to leave. In other words it was made clear to the student and the teacher that student had no more to learn in the temple and it was time for him to continue his studies in the world. If only real life was this simple, and clear cut. ...

We enter this life/ as flesh and bone on a quest/ final prize is death/ "As i stood over his bed looking down on him, i was at a lost of words. How do you say goodbye when you truly know that you may never see someone again in this life?" Although this may sound like a chapter out of a book. This is a true experience that many of us go through. With ageing parents and grand parents. How do we say goodbye to the pillars of our lives? These people who may have provided you with the foundation to become the beautiful person you are today. I am in this very situation myself.  My Grandfather appears to be in between worlds. His body seems to be slowly decaying and shuting down on him, and his mind and memory are gone. For those of you that don't know who Umar Ben Hassan is maybe you heard of the group he was part of "The Last Poets". I had a chance to chop it with this Elder and listen to him tell me how he hooked up with "The Last Poets". His story covers every part of the heroes Journey, so I didn't need to ask questions. He laid the truth out and even discussed with us how he developed his most famous piece. I am  a Hip-Hop Philosopha and Spiritualist this means that I have a unique way of seeing the world, and the way it runs. I have the pleasure of being part of a culture that does not mind borrowing. The Gye-Nyame method of pulling the mind & body together during   activities. This prepares the body and mind for Umoja (unity) with the Spirit. Check out my podcast " The Art of Yoking ". One of the definitions of a yoke is an instrument that is used to get  separate parties to work together. To yoking is the process of binding things together so that they can work together. This blog was inspired by the movie "A Thousand Words" staring Eddie Murphy. This move is about a relunctant hero who is forced to take a Journey of self transformation. The lead character played by Murphy is a slick, savy, successful literary agent. Who has molded and shaped his life by the use of his quick wit and his mouth piece. He has built a life that appears to be perfect, but early in the movie we see major flaws. First the lead character is arrogant, mean, loud, overbearing, rude and a manipulator. Secondly he has what a ppears to be a young marriage with a young baby that is being raised in an emaculate bachelor pad. I was lucky enough to run into this site from a post by one of my internet heroes (Seth Godin). Finally I am seeing ideas that make the internet a truly level playing field. With Gumroad you can sell things directly to your followers and friends. No big institution in-between taking a cut from your labor.I personally sell books off of amazon, and they take almost 50% of what I make. This gives an artist like myself no choice but to raise my price. After looking at what could be done with Gumroad I decided to fire my first shot and release one of my MP3's through them. I also started spreading the word to some my artist friends about  this idea, and encouraging them to use it, before it gets shut down. I don't believe that people truly understand the implications of being able to sale their products at a fair price. Listen the price of production on my end is so low that I can offer my listeners or readers my product at the price they feel they want to pay. I get get my info out as fast as I want. This video focused on the movie "The Secret" as well as self help gurus like Tony Robbins, and Eckart Tolle. The study states that positive thinking basically does not work, and is a form of avoiding the truth. This can be very harmful according to the study especially to people with terminal illnesses. Now I am a big supporter of science, but I will share my concerns. The issue is not that positive thinking does not work. The problem is that the scientist only studied positive thinking which is only a part of the process. I breath in and out/ slowly and with a rhythm/ mind begins to clear/ Meditation is a process of learning to measure our thoughts. In measuring them and observing them we learn how to quite or mind so that we can find peace. According to the lessons in Gye-Nyame when we are asked "what is peace?" The proper response is Harmony and Order. So by practicing meditation those on the Journey bring Harmony and Order into: 1. Into there inner world 2. Into their day life Being on the Journey regardless of what system you follow requires you to be able to draw on a source of power beyond your physical being, and meditation helps with this. It helps align you with the "True Self". Here are two stories about Truth that struck me as powerful. The first is from a class that I took in my college days that stuck with me until today, and the second I recently ran into while going over some Zen tales. So check them out: In the beginning the first man and woman were sitting wondering and discussing Truth. They approached the Creator and asked that they be given the Truth. The Creator denied their request, saying that they were not ready for the Truth. They continued to ask over and over again when ever they got a chance. Finally after a time the Creator respecting their persistence gave in to their request. Before the truth was given to them, they were warned that the Truth is a heavy burden and that they may live to regret their request. Man and woman were excited and prepared themselves for this gift. The Creator formed the Truth into a giant mirror and placed this new burden on the shoulders of Man and Woman. At first the Truth didn't seem to heavy or much of...

Find a sacred space/ where you can unify your/ Soul, mind and body/ We all need to get away from the hustle and bustle. I have found that it has been important for me to find places of solitude or practice where I can meditate, pray, workout, and etc.. these types of things are best done in sacred spaces, because the act of you declaring them sacred for yourself helps to focus the energy that you produce. Now a major principle that I am using here is Kujichagulia (for more info checkout my book "Player's Pyramid") which gives you the power to define an area sacred for you. By declaring it sacred you open up a space where all the parts of your being can commune (more on this later). Now let's look at two types of sacred spaces: First let's look at places of solitude. These are places where you can go alone and pull yourself together. These types of places allow you to create the space needed from the world so that you can work on you. On this Journey you have to sometimes adjust your trajectory. You sometimes end up on a dead end trail, because the Journey is about gaining the experience so that you can share what you know. At these times it is good to humble yourself and admit that you are lost. What I have found in life is  that when you let your ego go and ask the universe for help, something always appears. Sometimes it's a book, a map, gift, and if you are lucky  a person. During one of my lost moments, I happened to be on TED.com looking for videos. Joy comes constantly/ if we are open to the/ the wonder of life/ Just when I thought my Ha2ku (my play on the word haiku for those new to the Journey) muse had left me I was hit by a flurry of new ones. When we consider that right before our eyes life dances in the veil of infinite forms we can plug into our joy. Look around you and even in the dark night of your soul you can find something that can make you smile. The challenge for those on the Journey is to hold on to it. Joy is yours to claim at anytime as a matter of fact regardless of your situation in life you can access your Joy. I would dare to say you can hold on to the feeling and have it feel your life. Because unlike happiness which is determined by outside situations Joy is sparked internally and can radiate from your soul at all times. So plug into Joy... "On mile 3" my spreaker radio show I discussed a new definition of power but left out the connection of humbleness to true power. To be Humble = to be empty...? I have come to understand humbleness in this way from a ancient Zen story: A Zen master was being visited by someone wanting to know about Zen. Visitor began asking alot of questions. The Master served the visitor the visitor tea. As the visitor kept talking the Master kept pouring. The visitor watched the cup over flow and the tea rolled down the table into his lap. The visitor jumped and said "the cup is to full you are wasting tea everywhere!" The Master replied "like this cup you are full of your own opinions and speculations. How can I show you Zen unless you first empty your cup?" Listen to show and learn  the power of emptiness/a void.  New Definition of Power

Here is another App idea. very simple and quick. I often lose my TV remote, but I never (knock on wood) loose my cell phone. Why not create an app that will allow you to use your phone as a remote for your TV. just that simple.

Has your phone ever disappeared, and you attempted to find it and assumed that it was stolen but knew that thief could have not got to far away. Well hear is an App idea, i have vision but don't have skill to develop it. Why not have an App that basically could shut your phone down, and sound an alarm that could only be turned off with a code only the true owner knows. The alarm would sound every time phone was turned on, or was being charged. This would render phone unusable by thief. This app would also help those that always misplaced their phone but had access to the internet. I don't know if this app exist, if it does I apologize in advance to the creator of this app, but if not and you have the gumption, and the know how get busy. My hero and future star With my new phone I have finally figured out how to listen to my MP3 player. I have began using Amazon Cloud Player to purchase tunes that I really like. First I am noticing the beauty and power of MP3 as a financial tool for artist and a matter of convience for the listener. Now I am free to buy music that I like and don't have to worry about storing the music. Coming from the old school either I had to have space to keep my records or cds which could turn into a burden especially when you move like I do. Now I can just push a button on my computer while listening to pandora and purchase some music, and even better I can pick through an album and get the music I like rather than buying a whole album. Hence the reason for the article. I have noticed that some artist maybe losing some money by not allowing the fan to purchase individual cuts.
