Gye-Nyame Journey Media

How can you denie/  the power of Umoja/  when its in your face?  Gye-Nyame has been existence for quite awhile and I took a serious look back and was amazed by how people in the tribe and those on the fringes have benefited. Through partenerships, collaberations, and unity we have been able to create opportunities from absolutely nothing. So I have to ask the question asked in my Ha2ku, "how can you denie the power of Umoja (unity), when it slaps you in the face?: Housing over 25 young men, 5-7 at a time and being able to feed them and help the majority of them survive the summers from 1999-2007 Sending at least 5 boys a year to Simba camp 1999-2005 and then through a collaberation with (UW) increasing the number to 10-12 per year from 2005 to present Providing or openning opportunites for over 20 individuals to make money as either employees or contractors Openning opportunities for individuals to travel across country and to network with like minded people Creating 2 albums

Thank you very much/ For within your behaviors/ Lies a lesson for me/ I have not posted in a while. I don't know if it is because of frustration or just plain laziness. Today the inspiration hit me and I didn't have time to write at work but I felt it was important enough to pen my thoughts on this situation. Modern tech has made it so easy to share and I have been investing a lot of time on my spreaker station, but this Ha2ku needed to be discussed through the pen or should I say the key board. While working with young people today I ran into a young man whose behaviors were irrateing me to no end. He couldn't or wouldn't (I don't know which) stop moving or talking with me. He was a case study for persistence. He had it set in his mind that he was going to get what he wanted and started asking me for it over and over and over and over..... hopefully you get the idea. I noticed my breathing began to shift and became shallow I noticed my body began to heat up,

Yesterday the Baby Cart and the Assassin was whooped on, by the hills of Highbanks metro park. Although there were some beautiful sites like a snake crawling down a tree after hunting for birds, or seeing the Bald Eagle in it's nest. I simply was not ready to be lugging my kids up and down those hills. Now I have set my sites on mastery highbanks, and all she has to teach me about endurance and nature. My children enjoyed themselves but victory fell from my grasp as I had to cut my run short after what seemed the 8th hill. I shall return to complete my mission.

Life is a river/ Flowing around obsticles/ Seeking out the sea/ This life is a blessing and we must embrace it. We must learn to embrace the flow knowing that in the end we will end up in the sea. What is the sea? The sea is simply the source from which we all came from. The sea is our reward for the course we have taken. Sometimes we have to flow around obsticles, other times we have to smash through them, but at all times we have to keep the end in mind. If not we can get trapped in the flow of events. Rivers must flow and stay in motion or they will go stagnent and kill everything that is around them.

Had an excellent interview with one of columbus's finest artist. It is good to find young artist who really embrace Hip-Hop tradition. In the interview we discuss the path that he has walked and he dropped some jewels for those who have ears. I figure I am at a repeat point in my life. I feel a desire to go back and read some old books, see old movies, and talk with people who have impacted my life. I was recently reminded about this book called "The Baron Son" I read it years ago, and like all good books I passed it on (those on the Journey always pass on knowledge). Today I decided to give it revisit, and share my comments with you of course through the blog, and radio show. Found this pic in one of our metro parks here in Columbus. I just wanted to share and hopefully you can get a laugh from these bugs intimate moment. By the way support your state and metroparks because believe me if they are lost your town and state will suffer.

I am on a quest/ 360 miles till/ I find my Center/ I have been focusing a lot lately on the Gye-Nyame pledge in my classes as well as in my post. As I reflect upon what was written in the pledge and the other materials of the Gye-Nyame Tribe I can't help but find new insights that have been sitting right in my face for years. Physical fitness has been a major component of this Tribe from the beginning (UGRR days till now), but I have not been focusing on it. The bottom line is that there can be no advancement as a warrior if we do not develop all parts of our being. By not focusing the tribe on developing their physical skill, I have been depriving them of the opportunity to really push past some of those "self imposed limitations" we speak of in our pledge and handbook. The physical part of our being is the foundation in which the other aspects of our being (Spirit, & Mind) rest  upon. 2012 is the year that Gye-Nyame heads back toward the underground, and begin
