Folktales As Tools Of Liberation

Peace FAM: I'm sitting at my computer preparing for my presentation to the village and I just need to get a few thoughts down, and figured I was over due for another post on my blog. It has been a long time since I have sat down to actually write, I am use to talking to the cameras as I stream my thoughts, but at this moment I need to organize my thoughts, and prepare to talk to my larger family. It is always a humbling thing for me to be invited to share my perspective. In order to get my thoughts across in the proper way I want to use this platform to construct a discussion about the power of tales, myths and legends, and their importance to our freedom struggle and personal growth. Folktales are just stories that have moved beyond the first teller of the tale. Folktales are born when a story grows beyond the original teller. Curse of Fortuna part 1- short fictional tale

My father was a different type of dude. He often referred to stories to teach me important life lessons, many of them I didn't understand until after he passed away. This story is one of those, and has proven to be the best so far. On my 18th birthday my father did not show up for my birthday party, but instead asked me to meet him at a coffee shop the day after. Being upset about him missing another major event in my life I showed up with an attitude. When I entered the coffee shop he was sitting at a table alone drinking and reading a book. I approached the table and took a seat, but he didn't immediately notice me. I sat quietly brooding, planning my verbal assault on this man that I felt never really paid any attention to me. Finally looking up at me, and smiling. " I'm glad you came, happy belated birthday." He said reaching his hand out in a gesture of peace. Hookah and Conversation

Checkout the open mic conversations as I drop into one of my Hookah spots and open the conversation. This week we happened to be at the Shi-sha Lounge in Columbus. This spot lais back and right off campus and you never know who will drop in to say hello. this week we hit on: the third tool in the book "The Player's Pyramid" added to earlier description that I shared today. From a lesson I got from my youngest daughter trying to drive my car. I shared a lesson from the vault of my grandfathers wisdom, and from a request shared a fable created by Aesop called the "The eagle and the Kite" of coursed remixed in a Hip-Hop fashion.
