The Art of Adaptation: Unveiling the Wisdom of The Bat and The Weasels “It is wise to turn circumstances to good account.” — Aesop In the world of fables, we often find animals acting out the deepest parts of our humanity. These creatures, symbols of instinct and survival, carry lessons older than time itself. The Bat and The Weasels , retold from the mind of Aesop and reimagined through the lens of Gye-Nyame Journey, isn’t just a tale for children—it’s a guide for those grown folks who still seek mastery. When the World Has You Cornered Here’s the setup: A bat falls to the ground and is caught by a weasel. The weasel hates birds. So the bat, slick with the tongue, says, “I’m not a bird—I’m a mouse.” The weasel lets him go. Later, the same bat falls again. This time, a different weasel catches him. But this weasel hates mice. So what does the bat say? “I’m not a mouse—I’m a bird.” And he gets set free again. Now, you could say the bat was being dishonest. But hold on. Let’s go de...

The Wolves and the Sheepdogs

This fable is an important one that we need to really look in depth at. This fable brings up the idea at least for me of who to trust, slick talkers, and the subtle differences between people. Many of us have been confronted by at least one of these issues in our lifetime, and if not, you soon will. Aesop had a way of putting stories together that was simple but gave a profound lesson to those willing to read and learn. Lesson 1: Who to trust - how many times have each of us been faced with a crisis of trust. Who can and who should I trust is , I believe a common struggle. Learning to tell who is trustworthy is one of the most important skills that we will ever be faced with. Slick Talkers-  Beware the the silk tongued devils, they have a way of weaving webs of deception that can send you down the road of destruction. Subtle Differences-  Be aware of those small differences that separate you from others. Differences that we may ignore can cause us many issues, som...

Coming Soon- Live discussion about "The African Openings To The Tree Of Life"

All good things must come to an end, but the end can also be a new beginning. That is what it looks like for Gye-Nyame Journey's show Tribal Quotes. We started the show and with over 90 episodes we have looked at some universal wisdom that has helped everyone that has tuned. The wisdom will stay universal, but we will be specifically looking into the wisdom of Africa. We will be pulling verses from one of my favorite books, "The African Opening To The Tree Of Life". This book alone is a life changing tour de force, but having a discussion about the book as we move through each of the proverbs will definitely change those that take the time to tune in once a week. The Show will still be called Tribal Quotes  (to catch the podcast), but to catch it live still come to gyenyamejourney.com . The show will still air Wednesdays at 9pm est, and finally the call in number will still be 614-556-4535. Just

Richard Nixon's 'War on Drugs' was government-sanctioned terror on Black people - Indianapolis Recorder Newspaper: Home

My elders told me this in the early 90's. It has become a fact because one of the parties involved spoke up, but the evidence has always been there. Now the issue that bothers me is that America treats Black folks as if we have had every chance to make a better life for ourselves. The War On Drugs (WOD) started in 1970, taking up from  where Jim Crow left off, which had took up from where slavery left off. The fact is that Black Folks have been under attack since we have set foot on this land. Many of the complaints that I hear coming from the other members of the U.S., and even from other Black folks seems to leave these factors out when we they diagnose our ailments. The fact is that we have been used and left behind in the world wide race. We may need to now step back and look at some new ways to win, because trying to catch up in the traditional fashion is not going to work. Those that know me you best believe that Mr. Richard (tha dick) nixon is going to get the siren of f...
