Wasted Resource

Wasted Resource Introduction The youth of today are dealing with issues that we never dealt with; we are raising a generation of children who are exposed to everything. I say that our community needs to take the leadership role in molding and shaping our youth so they can become productive adults, who understand how to be leaders in their homes, communities, and workplaces. The issue is not “what do they know '' but rather “what do they know how to do” when it comes to being a man or woman. What is “rite of passage” ? It is commonly associated with such milestones as childbirth, puberty, marriage, and death. FairWeather Friends

Fairweather Friends Introduction Some people will only be your friend when you're doing well. They seem to be there whenever things are going well for you, but the moment something goes wrong in your life they disappear like a thief in the night. These type of friends we call fairweather friends, and I am convinced that having them around can lead to more harm than good.   Public Enemy #1 Great Kujichagulia during this week of Nia (Purpose): This article was sparked when I was reviewing one of my old videos. During the time I was thinking heavily about the plight of our people, and some of the road blocks that are in the way of us making progress. I remember that in all my time working in the community I have always heard about the plight of the Black man. I have seen millions of dollars in my lifetime, and have been paid thousands of dollars to work with Black Men & Boys. I had to step back and ask myself the question: what about Black women and girls. To my knowledge there has been no major funding or pushes to reach out and save her. Being a Gye-Nyame Man and being taught and teaching others to ask questions, I had to ask this question. I know that this is going to rub many the wrong way but, when my enemy is investing heavily into something I have to look ask why. In our culture women are very important. We can find African societies that are m

Tribal Quotes 19: Being Black, Boldly Brilliant and Beautiful

Tribal Quotes 19: Being Black, Boldly Brilliant and Beautiful On this show Brother Kwame is interviews his niece Alexia Smith and I want to share some of the take aways from the interview that I picked up. In his usual fashion "The Black Yoda" connects this interview with one of the proverbs left to us by our Ancestors. The key lesson that I got was the idea about sacrifice in the pursuit of a goal. Our Ancestors state those who are not willing to sacrifice will not be fulfilled, and this young lady has demonstrated the willings to sacrifice. This can be seen in her pursuit of excellencce in the classroom, on the basketball court, and more importantly life. The interview with Alexia Smith was inspiring and eye-opening. It is clear that she has a strong work ethic and determination to succeed. She is a great role model for young people, especially Black girls who may feel like they are not good enough or that they have to sacrifice their dreams in order to achieve success. Li

While researchers have known for a long time that fermented foods are rich in probiotics and healthy bacteria, we're now finding out that these foods can potentially boost our immune systems and help us fight off diseases. For example, scientists recently discovered that fermented foods can improve gut health by increasing the number of "good" bacteria in our stomachs.
