The Art of Adaptation: Unveiling the Wisdom of The Bat and The Weasels “It is wise to turn circumstances to good account.” — Aesop In the world of fables, we often find animals acting out the deepest parts of our humanity. These creatures, symbols of instinct and survival, carry lessons older than time itself. The Bat and The Weasels , retold from the mind of Aesop and reimagined through the lens of Gye-Nyame Journey, isn’t just a tale for children—it’s a guide for those grown folks who still seek mastery. When the World Has You Cornered Here’s the setup: A bat falls to the ground and is caught by a weasel. The weasel hates birds. So the bat, slick with the tongue, says, “I’m not a bird—I’m a mouse.” The weasel lets him go. Later, the same bat falls again. This time, a different weasel catches him. But this weasel hates mice. Kwanzaa, let's seek Umoja/
Oneness in journey/

Principle: Umoja
Day: Monday
Number: 1, 8
Element: Air
Chakra: Crown
Color: Violet
Umoja is the principle of unity. This guiding force is one of the most powerful principles to meditate upon, and practice. This principle speaks to us about the unity of all, and reminds us that our existence is interdependent with the rest of existence. By focusing on this principle and its numbers, colors, days, and element we get a deeper understanding of ourselves, and a view of how the universe works. By being able to master the practice of Umoja we become one with all. In this unity we find peace, and also realize that we are lacking nothing.
Take time today and reflect on Umoja. See how you fit in to the tapestry of life. Relax and meditate on this principle as well as using it (UMOJA) as a word of power through chanting. Feel it fill each cell of your body and share the energy today.
*be on the look out for my book on the use of the 7 principles of Kwanzaa called the "Player's Pyramid". We will begin selling them in 2011. (Entrepreneurship)
