Kuumba: The Ultimate Survival Skill for the Modern Tribe

Image
In today's fast-paced world, if you aren't creating, you're being consumed. Today’s focus on Kuumba (Creativity) is a call to action for every man and woman in our community. We often think of creativity as a hobby, but it is actually the foundation of our liberation. In the latest episode of Tha Daily Spark , we break down the "Monkey Heart Strategy." Just like the Monkey in the ancient tale, we must learn to protect our core purpose (our heart) while navigating the dangerous waters of today’s economy and social systems. We discuss how to stake your claim in new territories—especially the digital frontier—and turn your ideas into assets. Listen to the full episode here to learn how to claim your territory: Podcast episode: https://www.spreaker.com/episode/the-heart-of-ingenuity--69465305 Read more on the journey and explore my books at my Author Page: https://www.amazon.com/author/ha2timgyenyame CTAs: Invite you to get the Nguzo Saba Narrative Map to help y...

Tribal Quotes 18: The Essential You

Tribal Quotes 18: The Essential You Introduction Brother Kwame is coming hard with the shows, listen in and plug into his insight. He is using the "African Openings to The Tree Of Life" for all those that want to go deeper into what he is saying. Today, we are going to focus on the “essential you” which is the person who is present in all of your thoughts and feelings. You are the person – or being – that makes meaning of your life. You are the one who interprets your world to make sense of it; you are the one who comes up with a creative solution when others may not be able to do so; you are the one who makes beauty in this world by creating it yourself; you are the one who has a purpose for living and loving; you are the one who is aware of what matters in this life and how to find meaning even in suffering or death. In the past I have talked about the centrality of your inner head as it relates to making meaning in your life. The inner head is also called: As you know, I ...

Remember Your Family (sample)

Today is called Kujichagulia (32222-6). This is the day when we celebrate our self-determination and family. As a member of the tribe, I'm always thinking about how I can best improve my life so that I can build something that is lasting. If my internal supports are collapsing, then what's the point? And to me, family is a huge part of that support. It's important to have both people and community in your life that you can rely on when you're facing hard times or need advice for how to move forward. I want to encourage all of you to take some time this weekend to not only connect with your family, but also reflect on some of the things they've taught you over the years: What are their values? How do they express them? What lessons have they learned that they want to pass down to you? This knowledge will be helpful whether or not your family is still around by your side. Sometimes there are people in our lives who we love and respect, but for one reason or another, w...

Building the lodge

Image
Building a sweat lodge/ is what this life is about/ we do this daily../ I have succesfully completed another Simba Camp and I am back still recoverying, physically and emotinally (so give me time to get back on schedule). Now my real walk and work begins. I must build the sweat lodge of my life so that I can proudly again sit with the creator, my ancestors, and the spirits of the universe. When we focus on this Journey we find that many of the rituals that we practice, are just that practice for living. In helping build the Sweat lodge I was able to reflect on the work that I put in this world, and this time I found myself worthy to sit amongst my brothers and elders to pray and sing. Hopefully you take time in your life for ritual and realize that the ritual is preparing us for the world. The real sweat comes from the work that we do in the world not from the trials of the ritual. So next time you are involved in one of your sacred rituals (which you should have if you are...
