Kuumba is a powerful tool, but we have to exercise our Kujichagulia in dealing with it. Our ancestors' first rule upon entering a temple as a disciple was control of thought, but for us it is control of our imagination. Time and time again I have witnessed people creating their own hell that spills out to everyone around them. These people have plenty of Kuumba but lack the kujichagulia to control their creation. This comes from the luxury that our ancestors labor, blood, sweat and tears have created for us, more free time. We have people wasting this powerful resource to play mind games with themselves. They sit at home, offices, coffee shops, etcConcocting fuckery that usually takes a hold and causes confusion.   “Kuumba is a powerful energy that lets each of us create. I think that we need to go a little further in Kuumba to help you create the practices that will help you move to the next level. I believe (Imani) there is no better place for this to happen than the week of Kuumba.   Kuumba & Purpose Great Kuumba: Being on Nia requires us to be able to adjust our plans, and a lot of times this may happen in the midst of action. This means that of course we have to have a close relationship with Kuumba. Kuumba is directly linked to our intuition which allows us to plug into the ancestral realm, and pull on wisdom much older than we are. Kuumba will begin to flow in us as we establish our Imani in ourselves, and begin to trust our skills. This happens because in the pursuit of our Nia we begin to practice, and from the practice we develop the confidence in our skills, and this allows us to fall in the “Zone”. This is also described in the  literature as the flow state. When We are able to reach this state in the pursuit of our purpose we can begin to release our creativity. Great Kuumba: We have made it through week two of this cycle's challenge and I want to salute all of you that are participating and hanging in there. I know that it can be hard dealing with these questions, getting up for the Toast Ritual, writing and moving more than usual, but believe me (My fault), don't believe me believe the process. I believe that it is a manufactured illusion that is being powered by us. Wisdom — as it goes — is knowing what to do next. And creativity is the ability to seek out solutions to our problems. The principle of Kuumba is important when it comes to building collectives. Creativity is the use of imagination or original ideas to create something; inventiveness. When it comes to building a collective, this means the use of creativity that allows the invention of stories, rituals, ceremonies, initiations etc.. That allows for the building and maintaining of a collective. Kuumba also means to leave your community more beautiful and beneficial than you inherited it. When it comes to the building of a collective this means leaving behind stories, doctrine and legacies that help the next generation build on their foundation. This includes sharing resources such as books, journals and other materials that help build on the foundation you started.
