As we navigate the complexities of modern existence, it's essential to return to the roots that define us, leveraging the timeless principles of Honor, Loyalty, and Sacrifice to forge a path forward. This exploration isn't just about understanding a concept; it's about redefining our collective destiny through the lens of integrity and truth. As a community committed to empowerment and personal growth, we dive deep into the essence of Honor—dissecting its impact on our lives and our interactions with each other. Creating, living, & Defending The Best Life

Creating, living, & Defending The Best Life Great Nia: Peace Fam! Before we jump into this article I want to make sure that the readers understand how this system works, With this system the goal is to expand the way that we look at the Nguzo Saba, Each principle has to be explored through all of the other principles, that way we can create discussions, get new ideas, and develop a deeper understanding of our principles. Sometimes it appears to me that we allow these principles to lie stagnant for 358 days, and in late December pull them out of their holding pins and celebrate. Not here!!! At Gye-Nyame Journey we have discovered the power behind these principles and have figured out how to use them in building community, and that goes farther than just being able to memorize the meaning. We have constructed a 7 week cycle wherein you can sharpen your skills through looking at the principles through the other principles, and spark the creation of a new understanding that you can u

Creative Economics Great Nia: Let's start this conversation by using some of our crystalized wisdom that has made it to us from our Ancestors, we will be using the idea of Sankofa. Sankofa for those who are new to this journey is the Akan symbol with a long necked bird stretching its head back to grab an egg off of its back. This is defined as going back and fetching it. It for us is cultural wisdom, and I want to reach back and remind you that wealth for us traditionally was in the people, and believe it or not it still is! Nothing of value is found, created, shaped, molded or whatever can be done to it without the touch of a human being, or groups of human beings.   “Wealth exists in the people and we need to reclaim that value,  to help us build pathways for real wealth.” The smart phone you are reading this article was made and created through a process hundreds of individuals through their combined effort was able to put together. The components that were put together for th

Control Your Kuumba, Or Your Kuumba Will Control Your Life

Image
Control Your Kuumba, Or Your Kuumba Will Control Your Life Great Kujichagulia: Today we will look at controlling our Kuumba. Kuumba is a powerful tool, but we have to exercise our Kujichagulia in dealing with it. Our ancestors' first rule upon entering a temple as a disciple was control of thought, but for us it is control of our imagination. Time and time again I have witnessed people creating their own hell that spills out to everyone around them. These people have plenty of Kuumba but lack the kujichagulia to control their creation. This comes from the luxury that our ancestors labor, blood, sweat and tears have created for us, more free time. We have people wasting this powerful resource to play mind games with themselves. They sit at home, offices, coffee shops, etcConcocting fuckery that usually takes a hold and causes confusion.   “Kuumba is a powerful energy that lets each of us create. But we need to use our kujichagulia to control it.” Our Imagination is like a horse, and

Unity Of Kuumba

Image
Unity of Kuumba Great Umoja in this week of Kuumba: I am excited to begin this week. I think that we need to go a little further in Kuumba to help you create the practices that will help you move to the next level. I believe (Imani) there is no better place for this to happen than the week of Kuumba. So let's jump in! “We need to shift our thinking about Kuumba.” Great Umoja and today we are once again talking about the Unity of Kuumba. We will return to this combination many more times, in fact in this system we will return and converse about all the combinations of the Principles over and over again. This helps us move through the 3 levels of learning. Today we want to talk about how we can use Kuumba to strengthen our Umoja, and I will share some of the GNJ methods so that you can incorporate them, or have an idea for your path. “Groups, Organizations and Societies that use Kuumba to reinforce Umoja will flourish and grow.” We spoke yesterday about the 3 levels of learning on

The Nucleus Of Imani

Image
The Nucleus Of Imani Today we will be talking about the nucleus of Imani. Imani is the base of the system that we talk about in Gye-Nyame Journey. Any principle that is used without Imani will be rendered useless. We have to build up the Imani in the system by practicing it on a regular basis. This means that we have to structure the practice so that Imani flows out of us automatically. Once again we have to begin setting up ways that we can activate this principle even when we are seeking and find our why. “We know that unless the practice is working for you, it's useless. That's why we're taking time today to build Imani into your life.” When we find our Nia it is like being in a dark room blind folded and we have to figure out how to get out to share what we have with the world. In this situation the only thing that can get us out is the Trust (Imani) that we have in our senses. The reason it is setup like this is to test if we are worthy of what we seek. We have to be

Kuumba & Purpose

Image
Kuumba & Purpose Great Kuumba: Being on Nia requires us to be able to adjust our plans, and a lot of times this may happen in the midst of action. This means that of course we have to have a close relationship with Kuumba. Kuumba is directly linked to our intuition which allows us to plug into the ancestral realm, and pull on wisdom much older than we are. Kuumba will begin to flow in us as we establish our Imani in ourselves, and begin to trust our skills. This happens because in the pursuit of our Nia we begin to practice, and from the practice we develop the confidence in our skills, and this allows us to fall in the “Zone”. This is also described in the  literature as the flow state. When We are able to reach this state in the pursuit of our purpose we can begin to release our creativity. The act of creation feeds on confidence, and the flow state happens because we have done the work necessary to move on to a kind of auto pilot, and since we don’t have to focus on what we ar

Breaking The Cycle

Image
Breaking the Cycle  Great Nia Great day FAM, we have made it to the day of Nia in the week of Nia, and now we have to look at Nia through the eyes of Nia. Wow, I didn’t think about this until I sat down on my keyboard and started pounding out this blog. The Purpose of purpose. Why do we do what we do? Are you living a life on purpose or are you living on accident. Do you Know why you are doing and pursuing what you are doing and pursuing? Sounds like stupid questions, but many people when asked can not answer these questions outside of using the term “I have too”. Many of us are trapped in a cycle of accidents, and don’t know how to get out! So here is where we continue the process. Looking at the ways in which we can break the cycles that we are presently in. If you have started building on the ideas that we have been sharing for the last few weeks, you will eventually begin to see changes within yourself, and eventually you begin to affect the environment that you are in. Remember

The Family Pyramid

Image
The Family Pyramid Great Ujamaa: Continuing in the line of the discussion that we have had all week, I want to remind those that have been reading up to this point about the “The Family Pyramid”. You are sitting at the pinnacle or sat at the top of this pyramid at least until you had your own children. Now I want to explore what makes up this pyramid. This pyramid is made up of your living family, and your Ancestors. Your whole life is built upon those who came before you. Now I want to ask a simple question, what does that mean? Don’t just move by this question! I want you to really break down what this means for you, that the building blocks for all parts of your being are built upon those who came before you. In a sense others have sacrificed so that you can be on top, and you are now (metaphorically) standing upon them. Do you have a responsibility toward them? Is your life adequately reflecting the fact of your position on the pyramid, or are you just breathing air and hoping fo
