Suns rise

Image
I was blessed to be picked up by 3 of my sons recently and they taught me an important lesson that will resonate with me forever. They discussed with me their personal life goals. Sometimes I felt that all my talking was wasted but young folks always hear. They proved that my metaphore for life is true. Our children are like trees that take years to grow. Just take care of them, keep as many pest away as possible, and fertilize them with your ideas. Then one day they will begin to bare fruit. As I sat and listened and conversed with these young men they made me proud. Because they all were talking about going into business for themselves. To sit their and see my young suns rise brought a light to my heart, and let me know that no matter how hard the Journey may be or may get in the end it is worth it. I would encourage everyone that reads this short article to take some time on your walk and invest in the next generation. Your pay back will be watching them blossom and bear fruit, an

To thine ownself be true- Hip-Hop fable

Image
This story was inspired by a tale by Aesop called the "astronomer". Once their was a young MC, who had won many battles in his city. This MC was able to copy and style and master it. He constantly listened to the music of his favorite rhymers and could out flow them on their tracks. One day this young MC was invited to a studio of a top producer to demonstrate his skills on the mic. This was the day that this young MC had been waiting for. He listened to his favorite artist all night preparing his rhymes for his session. When the artist entered the studio, he was immediately walked to the booth by this legendary producer. The beat was dropped and the MC was challenged to drop some rhymes freestyle. The Mc felt like he was up for the challenge. The beat dropped and the MC cut into like fire and his flow seemed to him to be perfect, but the producer stopped him and said the lyrics was hot but it sounded a lot like "Lil Sam" which just happen to be one this young

Speak out

Use words to speak out/ Words are your weapons/ use them to fight injustice/ In the fight against oppression often the only weapon granted to the oppress are the words of their mouth. This to many may seem like insufficient armament, but to those of you on the Journey you know the power of words. Words have the power to create or destroy for those who know how to use and spread them. Complaining in barber shops is just the start, you have to go further and push your words to where they can be heard by others especially those in a similar situation.  Put your words in poems, ha2ku, song, shouts, chants, raps, and/or articles. Let them be heard and they may be the weapon that slay the one whose foot is on your neck. Nuff said Peace & 1hunidyears

Golden MC- Hip-Hop fable

Image
Any similarities to any real life situations is purely a coincidence. This tale is simply an adaption of "the goose who laid the golden eggs." Once upon a time when the Game was pure and the Love for the art and culture was still alive, there was an rapper who was called the "Golden MC", because all his ryhmes seemed to turn to gold. His fans flocked to stores to buy everything he put out, and his shows would always sell out. When he wrote a song it seemed to touch his listeners hearts, sparked their imaginations and excited thier passions. When he put out an album it seemed that he shaped reality. He developed a cult like following to the point that everything he touched and wore people seemed to flock to copy which meant that he not only sold records, but he was able to sell clothes, glasses, alcohol, and etc.. This golden MC belonged to a crew of friends that was led by a power hungry individual, and he wanted all the money he could get now. He didn'
