"There is no healthy person without a healthy collective, and there is no healthy collective without healthy persons." Great Ujima FAM: I hope yesterday was productive for you, right now I am sitting in Ujamaa reflecting back. Their are many things that i wished that I would have covered but I think the basic idea rings through. Family we have to begin to rebuild and embrace our culture. I state rebuild because we can't just grab some ancient information put it together and strap faith on it and feel we will be able to compete. A culture prepares an individual to compete and succeed. Right now I believe that we are following a cultural program that leads us to failure. This cultural paradigm that we follow miss informs us about the past, muddy up the present, and leaves us hoping for a great future. All of these elements are within our power to change, as well as rebuilding our culture. I created this video to discuss this issue, I hope you will check it out and let

Peace, Power, & Joy FAM: I greet you in the name of Ujima, even though it is no longer Ujima. I feel that this video is a must see. In it I demonstrate the Complete Breath, and talk about the effects it can have on the "5" (IMESP). Family if you don't do anything but learn some of the breathing exercises that I will be sharing with you over the next few days, you will be able to take control of your health. Most people over look the power of the breath, but here at GNJ we don't. As a matter of fact we start with it. Today we hit the basics of nose breathing, and I demonstrate the complete and the cleansing breath. If you add nothing but these two breaths to your SelfMastery tool box you will be head and shoulders above most. The fact is that most people breath wrong which contributes to a lot of the ailments that are prevalent today. Diet is important, and water is more important, but breath is King. You can eat right, drink the purest of water, but if you are

Peace FAM: Food is important, water is more important, but air is the true staple of life. If your air supply stops and you are dead in a few minutes. This is a fact that none can deny. This is why I wanted to do a video talking about breathing and the proper way to breath. We need to pay more attention to the breath, just mastering this one exercise and consciously breathing we can increase our health, strength, and power of our immune system. Many of us our suffering from the effects of improper breathing, and dehydration. If we water our bodies, and breath properly we can eliminate the need for many of the supplements and drugs that we are taking. Our bodies are malfunctioning because we have not been handling the basics. Breathing correctly is the key, if we perfect this skill our life would jump by leaps and bonds. When we bring air into our body it enables us to transform the food we eat into the energy that we need to make it through the day. We must become conscious of our bre

The Legend of the Leaf

Image
This is for those that are looking for a challenge. This legend was created during the UGRR days and has persisted throughout all of the incarnations of the family. It was designed to help the members stay in shape, and also develop their focus. In the early days the family would go to the woods at least 4 times a year and walk through them. We would admire the changing quality of nature. The four times would be during the beginning of each season. We would walk until we hit our tribal center at the banks of Nile (OlentanGYE river). On the way back this exercise was developed. This particular exercise was done best in fall. During this seasons leaves fall at random and if you paid attention you would be able to catch one. In this simple exercise you would have to be open and aware of your environment. As a leaf started falling toward the earth you would to have to focus on the one you were going to catch and pursue it. Don't be fooled catching a falling leaf is not as easy as

The Art of Yoking

The Gye-Nyame method of pulling the mind & body together during   activities. This prepares the body and mind for Umoja (unity) with the Spirit. Check out my podcast " The Art of Yoking ". While walking in the woods, or should I say small wooded area in the city. The thought hit me ultimately what is the idea behind yoga, and the idea of yoke came to my mind. One of the definitions of a yoke is an instrument that is used to get  separate parties to work together. To yoking is the process of binding things together so that they can work together. When this thought hit me it  sparked my Kuumba, as well moved me to use my Kujichagulia..I have many clients who I take through the movements that I have been working on for years. When I use the term yoga with some of them believe it or not it still scares people. I have long been a rebrander, and have sought to bring information to people where they were, and now the new inspiration is called " The art of Yoking".
