New Age guerilla tribute to Jimon Jones Part I

Image
Image via Wikipedia Guerrilla in midst/ Using Hip-Hop as weapon/ Waking consciousness/ I woke up today with several things on my mind but one of my ancestors was calling out to me. I have for years been involved in my community as a NationBuilder, and one of the task that I took upon myself was raising boys into men. For years my house was full of young men and their friends. This brought me great joy and great pain. I have lost count of how many young warriors have passed through my house (known by many as the Gye- Nyame house). I have been blessed with the fact that many of these young people developed a love for me and affectionately called me dad or big bra. Back to the reason I'm writing this piece I woke up with one of the Young men who was in the Gye-Nyame house on my mind heavy. His name was Jimon Jones. He lived next door from me and eventually ended up staying at Gye-Nyame house. Unfortunately he was murdered in the short north. When he died I wrote an article abo

Cover of Malcolm X Honore de Balzac : "If those who are the enemies of innocent amusements had the direction of the world, they would take away the spring, and youth, the former from the year, the latter from human life." Those orthodox Muslims whom I had met, one after another, had urged me to meet and talk with a Dr. Mahmoud Youssef Shawarbi. . . . Then one day Dr. Shawarbi and I were introduced by a newspaperman. He was cordial. He said he had followed me in the press; I said I had been told of him, and we talked for fifteen or twenty minutes. We both had to leave to make appointments we had, when he dropped on me something whose logic never would get out of my head. He said, 'No man has believed perfectly until he wishes for his brother what he wishes for himself.'  power is making/ your dreams breath and walk for real/ through life obstacles/ This a new part of the Journey I will begin sending shouts out to local artist, and entrepreneurs that are on the Journey. It is important that we support these folks, because they are out there grinding trying to get there name out there. So feel free to hit me up with suggestions for yourself as well of friends that out there "doin it". You have to have respect for those people that are out there making their dreams real. whether they are grinding out of their trunk, or selling their products at beauty salons or barber shops. When we support them we are really supporting ourselves. Each time we purchase a book, cd, ticket, or piece of heart we promote the culture of entrepreneurship. We keep the flame burning in them as well as ourselves.  although i hve put some artist on the Journey i have never really introduced them to you so I have one of my favorite Hip-Hop artist send me his Bio and a

The Baba chapter 5- Part I

Image
Image via Wikipedia   Chapter 5 I felt like I have been in this process for years, but it has only been 6 months. When they told us that this experience will change you on all levels they were not kidding. I don’t recognize my own body. I am learning large amounts of information, and have committed a large amount of money. They say during this process you suffer from a disease called the “ups”. When ever you mess up, forget something, late, or etc. you do “ups”, pushups, situps, pull-ups , chair ups, and a whole lot more ‘ups’ until you correct what’s wrong. We had to learn the basic information and apply it to memory. What they say they were trying to do was to get us to develop the “intelligence of the heart.” In the NB Club this is the highest form of intelligence as they see it. The process consist of memorization through reciting and scribing. Once we have the information memorized we begin to test it and apply it to our lives. We are constantly tested on the material, and c

Intention

Martin via Flickr What do you intend/ intention is your weapon/ Use to cut threw life/   For those on the journey the challenge is to learn to find your lessons not out of the mouth of wo/men, but to find them in the world and your experiences. Your story is the text book of your life and the lessons you can gain from studying yourself are vast. Dont ever under estimate the wealth of wisdom sitting unattended in your personal journey. We are all being prepared for greatness in some way, but sometimes we miss the lesson because we get caught up in life. Now that I have that out the way let me tell you a short story to help make my point and to cover the lesson in my Ha2ku. When I was younger (alot younger) I use to play football (which is full of life lessons). I was alright, and was told by many coaches that I had potential for greatness in the game. I recently ran into an old coach of mine that gave me a lesson that I had to share. This coach remembered m
