Conservatism, Reaction, and the Elder's Responsibility: A Message to My Age Grade

Image
Conservatism, Reaction, and the Elder's Responsibility: A Message to My Age Grade Great Day, Fam. This one right here? It’s not for everyone. If you’re not at or approaching Eldership—defined in our tribe as about 55 years old and up—you might not feel all of this. But if you’re curious, or if you’re one of those younger souls already walking with wisdom, you’re welcome to keep reading. This message is for the Elders. For those of us who should know better. And yes—I’m including myself. Let’s Start With the Mirror I’ve got to confess something. I’ve been guilty. Guilty of being reactionary. Guilty of falling into the trap of conservatism. Guilty of romanticizing the past. Guilty of looking at our young people and calling them “soft”—as if we were born warriors, as if we didn’t have to become who we are through fire, failure, and guidance. Many of us Elders are stuck in a loop. We remember only the highlights of our youth—the toughest times we survived, the boldest moments ...

Guiding Energy & Fake Adults (A Timeless Rant from 2021)

Image
Peace, Family. Three years ago, I hit the mic and went in on something that's still burning in my spirit today. The video you're about to watch — “Guiding Energy & Fake Adults” — was recorded back in June 2021 , but the message remains just as urgent now as it was then. In that rant, I was fired up about the systems we keep handing our children over to — systems that don’t reflect our values, don’t serve our communities, and never truly loved us. I broke down the idea that childhood is a sacred phase for the guiding of energy , not just about chasing jobs or credentials. I asked the hard question: 👉🏿 Who are we preparing our youth to serve? But I didn't stop there. I turned the lens on us — the so-called "grown folks" and "conscious community." Too many are out here walking around like lone wolves, refusing guidance, avoiding community, and staying uninitiated. That’s dangerous. It’s childish. And it’s time we stopped pretending otherwise. ...

Tricks Are for Kids, But Stories Are Not

Image
Tricks Are for Kids, But Stories Are Not We live in a world shaped not by facts, but by stories . And somewhere along the line, we made the mistake of thinking stories were just for kids. At Gye-Nyame Journey , I’ve been saying this for years: the stories we tell ourselves shape our lives . The stories we hold about ourselves, our families, our communities, and our nation—these aren’t just words floating in our minds. These stories direct our behavior , mold our worldview, and set the parameters for what we believe is possible. But the problem is, most of us didn’t write these stories. We inherited them. We absorbed them. We consumed them like junk food—unaware they were feeding us poison. Narratives Are Weapons In today’s world, narratives—or “stories” as we used to call them—are some of the most powerful tools being used against us . And what’s worse is, we let it happen . We let others tell our stories for us. We allowed systems, media, and outside forces to define who we are,...

History is Not the Revolution: A Hard Truth I Had to Face

Image
History is Not the Revolution: A Hard Truth I Had to Face For years, I believed that knowing history was revolutionary. I thought that my Black Studies degree, my ability to recite historical facts, and my understanding of African civilizations meant that I was participating in a revolution. But I was chasing an illusion. The Illusion of Historical Knowledge as Power There is a glaring hole in the conscious movement—a political void that many of us never realized existed. My education provided knowledge of history but omitted the political strategies required to challenge the system. And perhaps, during my time, it was expected that those who truly wanted to understand the politics of revolution would seek it out on their own. But I missed that part. I never learned about the political dimensions of movement building—the economic strategies, the discussions about capitalism, socialism, and class struggle. Instead, I was left with historical knowledge that, while empowering, did not dir...

Daily Toast - Nia 421171 "The fox that thought he was a Lion"

Peace FAM: "Greatness is forged in the heart, the heat is provided by the trials and tibulations of your life. It is shaped by the 5 tools of our being, cooled by our mastery of the 6 emotions, and formed into shape by our adherence to the 7 Principles." quote from a future book by ha2tim We are up and toasting those ancestors, I want to send shots out to all those that join me for the feed at 4:15 am est on Facebook. I am trying to let yall know that I am not playing with this. Slowly but surely we will change ourselves and by doing that we will will impact the world. Today I bottled some Ambrosia for one of the daily viewers of the Toast on FB. Those who have already placed their orders for this batch, know that you have not been forgotten. I have some of my best SCOBYs working on it as we speak. Daily Toast- Ujamaa 420171 "Shame Is Robbing Us Blind" aka "There is nothing wrong with being a non-immigrant"

Image
Peace FAM: "Shame on you", what powerful words, these words can stop some of us in our tracks. We will hear them and start mentally reviewing our actions. Stopping all forward progress until we are able to identify the actions that may be bringing the feelings that go along with these words. Shame can drain an individual, of energy, but what can it do to a people. The feeling of shame blankets us, we feel that it is some shame in being taken advantage off, being robbed, rapped, pillaged, enslaved, and etc.. We as a group may be identifying the wrong emotion that shame comes under. Many of us would place shame under the feeling of mad, but then you must ask the next question, If you are mad then who are you mad with, and for many of us the answer will ourselves. Which is a trap, that will send you us into an endless maze. This is exactly what we have done as a group with our shame, we misdiagnose and wonder why we can't heal. We need to stop, take a breath and get honest...

Daily Toast- Umoja 417171 Sex

Image
Peace FAM: We will look at sex today, and discuss how it can become a point of contention, as well as a powerful tool to move you toward your goal. When seeking SelfMastery, as well as Nationbuilding all aspects of our lives need to help us move toward our goals. Especially those that are necessities, like eating, and sex. It is incredible to me that people will move toward change and leave the same old attitudes about sex in place. Sex is one of the most powerful things that we do in our life time. We literally create life during this act, but we neglect it when it comes to changing our lives. You can create the best life in the bedroom, as well as erect your own private hell. We have to be wise enough to use all of the tools we have been given on our journey to greatness. To overlook the major necessities of life is like trying to build a house with no hammer. Daily Toast- Imani 416171 Self Deception continued

Image
Peace FAM: We will continue to talk about self deception today, and how our misdirected Imani can hinder our growth. I didn't get to talk about the placebo and nocebo effect, but these play a major part when we start discussing Imani and SelfMastery. Knowing about these can help you break through some of the illusion that have been erected to prevent you becoming the best you. Those of you in GNJ and those of you taking the 21 Day Nguzo Saba Challenge need to look both of those terms up, and begin to apply them to life. Nuff Said Peace, Power, Joy, and 1hunidyears

Peace FAM: This is going to be short one, but we need to be aware of self deception, that can come with us exercising the power of Kuumba.

Daily Toast - Nia 414171 224 Self Help Process

Image
Peace FAM: Nia is purpose as you all know by now, and it is important that we begin existing on purpose. It appears to me that for the last century, we have carried on as if we are stumbling through life. Of course their have been some bright spots but for some reason we have refused to pick up the flame of those times. It appears that we like groveling in the dark, waiting for luck to drop us an opportunity. Ladies and gentlemen their is no luck, either we change our position or we will stay stuck, and when society no longer needs us we will be discarded upon the trash heap of history. Only remembered because our enemies will have constructed false monument to salute our people. I for one will work against this. I have for the last 20 years  been working on developing organizations, plans, and etc., to help set my people free, but I am beginning to understand that just because you look like me does not mean that you are of me. I have had to change my focus, and begin to look at...

Daily Toast- Ujamaa 413171 (5-6-7 a new way of seeing the world)

Image
Peace FAM: It is time for us to begin looking at the world with new eyes. Understanding GNJ's 567 system and applying it to your life will change the world for you. We are suffering because we have been miseducated about ourselves. We are taught about all the limits, and thrust into a world not of our or our ancestors making. As African people we have existed on the periphery of this world long enough, and it is time for us to grab the cover of our culture. Culture is the soul of a people, and a people without soul are zombies. Walking the earth soulless doing the bidding of their masters. The recent addition of zombies eating brains, and as brainless consumers is recent to the zombie lore. The original concept of a zombie was someone that was put up under a curse and was forced to serve. Although the brainless consumer was a great addition. We are caught in the zombie zone, serving others with no benefit to ourselves, but it is now time for us to change this paradigm. Today is t...

Daily Toast- Umoja 410171 (confusing being scared with being mad is stopping Unity in our communiity)

Image
Peace, Power, and Joy FAM Umoja has swooped in upon me like a hawk, and snatched me up before I was ready. Now I am playing catch up, but I am grateful for another opportunity to greet you on this Great day. It is incredible what new information can do for you. It is like having a blind spot your whole life and someone comes around with a cure, and all of the sudden you can see of the world. I feel that another blind spot has been cleared up for me after  this weekends WHB workshop. I received information this weekend that has changed my view of the world, and if I put it to work it will change the world I'm in. Confusion is a powerful force, that cause us to mislabel and misplace things. In our confusion about our emotions we have mislabeled scared, and misplaced it in the wrong emotions group. This has caused so much confusion for me. For years I thought I was angry, and I get never understand fully why. I struggled with this anger, I fought with this anger, and  I spoke a...
