Conservatism, Reaction, and the Elder's Responsibility: A Message to My Age Grade

Conservatism, Reaction, and the Elder's Responsibility: A Message to My Age Grade Great Day, Fam. This one right here? It’s not for everyone. If you’re not at or approaching Eldership—defined in our tribe as about 55 years old and up—you might not feel all of this. But if you’re curious, or if you’re one of those younger souls already walking with wisdom, you’re welcome to keep reading. This message is for the Elders. For those of us who should know better. And yes—I’m including myself. Let’s Start With the Mirror I’ve got to confess something. I’ve been guilty. Guilty of being reactionary. Guilty of falling into the trap of conservatism. Guilty of romanticizing the past. Guilty of looking at our young people and calling them “soft”—as if we were born warriors, as if we didn’t have to become who we are through fire, failure, and guidance. Many of us Elders are stuck in a loop. We remember only the highlights of our youth—the toughest times we survived, the boldest moments ...

How Your Feelings Stop You From Growing - Daily Toast 611171

Peace FAM:
On this powerful day of Imani, I was hit by the thought of feelings. I know the power of feelings when they are properly directed, but I have been held hostage by them as well. Often times we find that how we feel about some task will freeze us up, and stop us from doing certain task. We have to learn to push past how we feel on some of our quest, because our feelings are helping to hold us back. It is human instinct to want to stay comfortable, we seek comfortable position, and we thrive in predictable situations. Even if the thriving is moving us on  a long train ride to destruction. We hang on to old habits even though we can see that they are making us obeist, lazy, sick, miserable, and etc.. We have to be willing sometimes to jump over how we are feeling and get things accomplished. This is a tough process but often for us to make break throughs we have to do this.
Our feelings are a guidance system, not a ruler that should command our lives and limit our actions. Fear is something that we on GNJ have to learn to deal with and move inspite of. This is where we need to operate our faith (Imani) and move in it.We must realize that moving toward the better part of who we are is uncomfortable, unpredictable, and scary. once we embrace these facts we will be able to get off the couch and challenge ourselves.
Family I am speaking from experience, I don't want you to fall into the trap that so many of the great minds that I know are in right now. Waiting for the perfect time, or waiting for the stars to align just for you. I need you to notice that every morning during our toast we salute the moment. It is in this very moment that our power for change and fulfillment lie. Not in our past actions, or our future deeds. This moment is all that you ever have, and the illusions that are being presented to you about the past, and the future are a trap, to keep you in the net of the Matrix. So get your ass up and take that red pill, and dare to see the world through new eyes. Grab life by the throat through your actions, and deeds. Take it a minute at a time and build a habit of actions that will lead you to greatness.
Family i am glad that you chose to listen and watch us on GNJ, and I wish you Peace, Power, Joy, & 1hunidyears, but to get these you have to take action. Your life is waiting on you, please don't disappoint it.
