We often have to travel alone and this gives us time to take action to get the one thing that many people neglect. This thing is mastery of our chosen skill. In these days mastery is not stressed, we are told that we should be well rounded, and be able to do many things good, rather than focusing our time and effort into one thing. This week during my study I came across a quote that really helped put this Ha2ku into perspective. My whole life I have heard the saying "don't put all your eggs in one basket" I have even given this advice to people I love thinking I was looking out for their best interest. In actuality when we give this advice what do is end up stripping the world of a possible master of a necessary skill. We need those that are willing to create jobs, and not just search for them. While speaking to many young people in my community the major thing that I hear repeatedly is about the need for jobs. It seems as if we are in denial about the state of the world. Jobs are vanishing, and leaving opportunity for those who train themselves to see them. We must spark the desire to create jobs. We must foster the entrepreneurial spirit in ourselves and our youth. The day of the government and/or factory job is going the way of the dinosaur. A question came to me as I was looking at the snow and then up at the stars. I had recently heard a show on NPR where they described the two black holes that were discovered at the center of our galaxy. Each Black hole was 25,000 light years across. When the people are terrorized they loose faith in each other and the government(leadership). If the government or leadership show that they are afraid, the people begin to trust them even less. Then next comes different forms of internal rebellion and bickering, while the ones that have caused the enhanced fear go untouched. This ultimately leads to a small victory for the outsiders (cause of the terror). Create enough small victories and the large ultimate victory will take care of its self.
