What Are Your Duties

Image
Peace FAM: I greet you on this great Kuumba day. We lift our glasses and  toast our ancestors, for me this is a duty. This is something that I have to do, a duty. One early morning before the toast I was listening to NPR and heard a story about the youngest prince of England's role family. He stated that him nor none of his siblings want to step in the role of King, but would fuflill their duty if called upon. My mind started working, and I saw a direct connection between duty and purpose. So now I have to ask you what are your duties. If you have a purpose you must have duties to accompany that purpose. I am running into many Nia driven people who have no duties that lead them to their purpose. They can define their purpose to perfection, but when asked what duties accompany the purpose they fall short. Family take some time and build some duties that will help move you toward fufilling your purpose. Checkout the video and let me know your thoughts, don't be shy leave some c

The Power Of Bitter

Image
Peace FAM: The bitter parts of life help build us up, and prepare our body and mind for the goodness that eventually will come. We have been trained to avoid the bitter. We are told not to complain, and to grin and bare it, we must monitor what we say and how we say it to make sure we don't spit out bitter words. We are surrounded by food that are packed with sugar and if we go to any grocery store we will be hard pressed to find something bitter. We have advanced humanity to a point where we can possible go a life time and never experience bitter word, or bitter food. We have reached the pinnacle of civilization, for now we can shelter the members from all the bitter that life has to offer. This process is complete but we have lost a lot in this trade, and many may want to go back and make some adjustments in our lives. Bitter helps us grow, and it strengthens us. It helps get our creativity unstuck, just like physical bitters jump starts our immune system, and stimulate digest

The Power Of Your No

Image
Peace Fam: Today we had a powerful segment leaning toward you and your personal power. In my time on this planet one of the hardest things for me is telling people no. Usually I feel guilty, and feel I have to explain my reasoning behind the no. I know that I am not the only one having this issue, many of us have ruined our lives, or may have put ourselves in compromising situations because we don't feel good about sharing our NO. I want you to understand that when you say no, you are sharing. You are sharing who you are and your values, and should stop allowing individuals to pull you from that. We all have boundaries and we need to learn how to enforce them, and using the "power of no" is one of our weapons for doing this. When we say no, we are being honest about our thoughts, and being true to our feelings, but we feel that we need to justify them. I am here to tell you that you do not. Those that can not accept your no, are revealing something to you. Something th

Discussing The 21 Day Nguzo Saba Challenge - Daily Toast Umoja 619171

Image
Peace FAM: Today we reviewed all of the information, and reflected that all of the system we spoke about in the previous week, all work together in Unity to make you a living being. Our bodies are perfect models for today's principle and when we take the time to study our bodies we can move toward mastering our lives and the world around us. I began the discussion today during the toast by discussion the verdict of the recent trial for the murderer of Philando Castile. I shared the fact of how I was not shocked, and then began the discussion about tribe building, developing a culture, and being willing to support those that sacrifice for our communtiy. I have been struggling with the fact for a while that people only do to us (Black Folks in America) what they can get away with. The whole society nows that they can violate our women, mistreat our children, and murder the men and get nothing but a protest. We will notice immediate changes in behavior toward us when individuals a

How Your Feelings Stop You From Growing - Daily Toast 611171

Image
Peace FAM: On this powerful day of Imani, I was hit by the thought of feelings. I know the power of feelings when they are properly directed, but I have been held hostage by them as well. Often times we find that how we feel about some task will freeze us up, and stop us from doing certain task. We have to learn to push past how we feel on some of our quest, because our feelings are helping to hold us back. It is human instinct to want to stay comfortable, we seek comfortable position, and we thrive in predictable situations. Even if the thriving is moving us on  a long train ride to destruction. We hang on to old habits even though we can see that they are making us obeist, lazy, sick, miserable, and etc.. We have to be willing sometimes to jump over how we are feeling and get things accomplished. This is a tough process but often for us to make break throughs we have to do this. Our feelings are a guidance system, not a ruler that should command our lives and limit our actions. Fea

Culture & Food- Daily Toast Kuumba 63171

Image
My FAM: I appreciate your eyes & the time you spend reading my post. It is amazing that through your dedication and inspiration I have been able to post daily. I thank you a thousand times and pray and toast that our ancestors will push you on your chosen path to success. Yesterday we had an opportunity to discuss the connection between food and Culture. We were introduced to a field that was created to explore this relationship and with that information I believe help in further conquest of other's Culture. We explored the difference between one feeding and one eating, and I ask the question which one are you involved with. Because one is directly linked to culture and the other is just about getting energy to work. Our relationship with food defines us as well as our connection with our ancestors and have direct effects on our health. So take some time and and view this long video ( I promise I am trying to reduce the amount of time I spend on the video but sometimes m

The Power Of Tart Cherry- Nia Daily Toast 62171

Image
Peace FAM: Once again their is a powerful natural helper out there that we have been walking by everyday. I remember climbing and eating those tart cherries right from the branches. He would have thought that those nasty cherries that use to give me the runs would end up being something that could help my community. So let's find some tart cherry trees and have our kids climb them and bring down the fruit so that we can eat together. Checkout the video, Like, Subscribe, and more Importantly SHARE. Prolonged Fasting - Daily Toast Umoja 529171

Image
Peace FAM: Just when you thought it couldn't get any better, we jump into the world of prolonged fasting. I must say that I am amazed. I knew about fasting, but as far as the renewing of the body, and the immune system I am shocked and this will definately be adding this to my regiment. Accord to the small amount of research we have conducted the only things that you really need to maintain a healthy life is proper breathing, water, fasting, and proper food (check out the African Heritage Diet I will be doing another video on it soon) I also unveiled another Ginseg root  that has been sitting undisturbed for 8 days in "That Ambrosia", and I must admit that it is good. It has a nice earthy, slightly woody taste, it is a bit on the bitter side, but very drinkable, and I am going to be rolling this out soon. This kind will only be availible in half, and whole gallons, this willonly be availible with pre-orders. Let me know if you are interested

Intermittent Fasting - Daily Toast Imani 528171

Image
Peace FAM: As usual we start off with the toast that goes on for a while, because I go into one of my rants about the importance of entrepreneurship in our community. I took time to salute my sister Ayisha for her creation of Almillikah Hair & Body Butter  (visit her site for more info). I have been saying that one of the major businesses that we need to take over in our communities is the "Ash business", there is no other group that uses as much lotion as we do and we need to stop purchasing these types of products from others. we need to turn this product into an engine for economic growth. If we just capture this one industry we would possibly create hundreds if not thousands of jobs, create trade relationships with African countries, and have money circulating in our community. We must remember that money is the blood of a community. As long as the blood is flowing in the body (community), the body is healthy, but if for some reason blood begin to flow rapidly out

Music & Culture - Daily Toast Kuumba 527171

Image
Peace FAM: We once again talk about culture, at the beginning I was joined by my girls, but they soon abandoned ship for a movie. This left me the space to have some adult conversation with y'all. We are neglecting the power of culture and the tools of culture, and we will not be able to march very much further in this highly competitive, and race based world if we don't start learning the lessons, and building for our future. Music is such a powerful tool that we have allowed to be hijacked. I recently was at a talent show, and the young people sang, and danced, but all of the songs that my (our) children chose were from white artist. All the songs were about pushing beyond limits and inspirational. I had to laugh because I could not think of any age appropriate songs by a Black artist that my kids could sing that fit that model. We have allowed our culture to be pimped, and turned into a weapon against us. I for one will not stand for it. We have radio stations in our com

Daily Toast- Ujamaa 525171 Lymphatic System 3

Daily Toast- Imani 521171

Image
Peace Fam: Today me and the girls just had fun, but we were able to discuss the concept of faith in the process that you are practicing. Faith, and trust are important in the process of Selfmastery. Two of the Ten virtues of Maat stress these concepts: "Having faith in our masters ability to teach us (or reveal) the truth." "Having faith in our ability to assimilate the truth" Being able to invest our trust in the process that we are following is paramount, and we have to begin to practice this principle, so that we can move to the next level of our development. Take some time and evaluate some of the processes that you working in your life, and the ones that are worthy to continue, because you have seen the fruit in your life, as well as in other live's, and begin to invest trust in them. View video and feel free to leave comments. me and my daughters wish you Peace, Power, Joy, and 1hunidyears. Brother ha2tim

The Biggest Story

Image
Being a lover of folktales I   feel it is my responsibility to share a good one when I find one. Folktales, myths, legends, and stories are important to all culture because it is the main way that the culture is taught and passed from generation to generation. Folktales connect us to our ancestors and to learning like nothing else. Our brains are wired for stories, and it is a tradition that need to be brought back. Although story telling is a billion dollar industry, we have allowed this talent go dormant in our community, unless we are talking about unhealthy activities. So my friend here is a story that I was reintroduced to, and I thought I would share it. I am asking you for your help. I need for you to view the short video and help me decide which story is the biggest. I give directions in the video, please take the time to vote, and I will share the final results on the "Daily Toast", sometime next week. Remember be bold and take the 21 Day Nguzo Saba Challenge , an

Daily Toast- Ujamaa 518171 "The wasted resource of Black Manhood & Black Womanhood

Image
Peace FAM: Wasted resources are killing our community. Especially resources that we have control over. I am going to hit on some sensitive ideas in this article and the video so I need to warn you advance. I woke up and started thinking about the role of gender in a culture, and asked why were they important. Gender roles were established to help bring order in the culture. Each individual was assigned roles at birth, as well as from the community. These roles helped to advance the society. The interaction between the genders produced the life that enabled the culture to exist as well as the community that adhered to the role. Now in these days and times these roles have been allowed to slip into each other forming whole other groups of individuals. Now where you stand on this is your business, and is not part of my discussion, but it is something that I felt that I need to cover. We as Africans in America, also known as Black folks are in no position to be arguing about these gend

Daily Toast- Ujima 517171 "The Paradox of the collective"

Image
"There is no healthy person without a healthy collective, and there is no healthy collective without healthy persons." Great Ujima FAM: I hope yesterday was productive for you, right now I am sitting in Ujamaa reflecting back. Their are many things that i wished that I would have covered but I think the basic idea rings through. Family we have to begin to rebuild and embrace our culture. I state rebuild because we can't just grab some ancient information put it together and strap faith on it and feel we will be able to compete. A culture prepares an individual to compete and succeed. Right now I believe that we are following a cultural program that leads us to failure. This cultural paradigm that we follow miss informs us about the past, muddy up the present, and leaves us hoping for a great future. All of these elements are within our power to change, as well as rebuilding our culture. I created this video to discuss this issue, I hope you will check it out and let
